Dev Anand was an Indian actor, writer, director and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema. Anand is considered as one of the greatest and most successful actors in the history of Indian cinema. Through a career that spanned over six decades, he worked in more than 100 films. Anand is a recipient of four Filmfare Awards, including two for Best Actor. The Government of India honoured him with Padma Bhushan, Indian third highest civilian honour in 2001 and with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002.
Balraj Sahni was an Indian film and stage actor, who is best known for Dharti Ke Lal (1946), Do Bigha Zameen (1953), Chhoti Bahen (1959), Kabuliwala (1961), Waqt (1965) and Garm Hava (1973). He was the brother of Bhisham Sahni, noted Hindi writer, playwright, and actor.
Waqt is a 1965 Indian Hindi-language Bollywood masala film directed by Yash Chopra, produced by B. R. Chopra and written by Akhtar Mirza and Akhtar-Ul-Iman. It was included in the British Film Institute's long list of films in consideration for its top ten of Indian films award. Released in India on 28 July 1965, the film stars an ensemble cast of Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana Shivdasani, Sharmila Tagore, Balraj Sahni, Achala Sachdev, Rehman and Madan Puri. It pioneered the concept of Hindi films with ensemble casts.
Haqeeqat is a 1964 Indian Hindi-language war-drama film written, directed and produced by Chetan Anand. The film stars Dharmendra, Balraj Sahni, Priya Rajvansh, Sudhir, Sanjay Khan and Vijay Anand in major roles. The music of the film is composed by Madan Mohan and the lyrics of the songs are by Kaifi Azmi. The film is based on the events of the 1962 Sino-Indian War about a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh pitched against a much larger adversary. The film was constructed around the battle of Rezang La in Ladakh and showcases a fictionalised version of the last stand of Ahir Company, 13 Kumaon led by Major Shaitan Singh. However the film is not only a representation of war, but a dramatic retelling of the impact war has on the common soldier. Chetan Anand dedicated the film to Jawaharlal Nehru and the soldiers in Ladakh. The film is widely considered one of India's greatest black and white war-films.
Jawani Diwani is a 1972 Hindi-language musical romance film directed by Narender Bedi, and starring Randhir Kapoor, Jaya Bhaduri, Balraj Sahni, Nirupa Roy as leads. This was also Kader Khan's debut as a dialogue writer.
Munimji (transl. Clerk) is a 1955 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film starring Dev Anand and Nalini Jaywant, and directed by Subodh Mukherjee. The story idea was by Ranjan, screenplay was by Nasir Hussain and dialogues by Nasir Hussain and Qamar Jalalabadi. Pran played the villain in the film. It also starred Ameeta and Nirupa Roy. The team of Mukherjee, Nasir Hussain, Dev Anand and music director S.D. Burman later got together to produce another movie, Paying Guest, in 1957. The film was loosely adapted in Telugu as Inti Guttu (1958).

This movie features the unforgettable evergreen songs by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar under music direction of Madan Mohan, which turned out to be chartbusters. The most famous song in this film is "Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho". The other song is a qawwali, "Yeh Mana Meri Jaan" whose tune has been remade numerous times. Madan Mohan produced one of the best works of his life for this feature film. "Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho" was adjudged the third best hindi film song ever by a jury of eminent musicians for an Outlook magazine poll. The song is still a rage among youngsters and lovebirds. This movie collected Rs.72000 at capital cinema, which was a record back then and was declared a hit at the box office.

She later became known for mother and grandmother roles in Hindi films. Her most memorable roles were as Balraj Sahni's wife in Waqt (1965) and Kajol's grandmother in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995).

It was jointly written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas and Bijon Bhattacharya, based on plays by Bhattacharya and the story Annadata by Krishan Chander. The film had music by Ravi Shankar, with lyrics by Ali Sardar Jafri, Nemichand Jain, Vamiq, and Prem Dhawan.

The film was produced by Amarjeet. The film's score was composed by Shankar Jaikishan duo with lyrics provided by Hasrat Jaipuri, S. H. Bihari and Gopaldas Neeraj, edited by Shivaji Awdhut and was filmed by Faredoon A. Irani. The story revolves around three friends, how they face their problems in life, and how they recover from the problems in the rest of the story.
Munna also called The Lost Child is a 1954 Hindi social drama film produced and directed by K. A. Abbas for the Naya Sansar banner. The story was written by Abbas with photography by Ramchandra. The music director was Anil Biswas though there were no songs in the film. Master Romi played Munna and the actor Jagdeep appeared as a child artist in the film. The rest of the cast included Sulochana Chatterjee, Shammi, Tripti Mitra, Achala Sachdev, David, Manmohan Krishna, Johnny Walker, Rashid Khan and Nana Palsikar.

The film stars Balraj Sahni, Padmini and Jagdeep. It was released on 29 December 1960, and failed to replicate the success of the Tamil original.
Nanak Dukhiya Sub Sansar is a Punjabi language film directed by Dara Singh. The lyrics were written by Prem Dhawan. Dhawan was awarded National Film Award for Best Lyrics in 1972 for its movie songs.
Hum Log is a 1951 Indian Hindi social realist film written and directed by Zia Sarhadi. Dealing with the trials and tribulations of a middle-class family, the film stars Nutan, Shyama, Durga Khote, Balraj Sahni and Sajjan in lead roles. Nutan earned positive notice for her portrayal of a tuberculosis patient and so did Sahni who played her brother. The film was a commercial success and established Nutan as a rising star in the film industry.
