Internationally, his films won the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival and the Crystal Globe at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. As a director and screenwriter, he is considered one of the pioneers of Indian parallel or neo-realistic cinema.

The plot follows a woman's fight against corruption and criminalization of politics in India. The film starts Vijayshanti alongside Chandra Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sai Kumar, P. L. Narayana, Charan Raj, Suthi Velu, Rajasekhar, Narra Venkateswara Rao, and Y. Vijaya who appear in supporting roles. Music is composed by K. Chakravarthy.
Phir Subah Hogi is a 1958 Indian Hindi-language drama film produced and directed by Ramesh Saigal. It stars Raj Kapoor, Mala Sinha, Rehman in lead roles. The film is an adaption of Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel Crime and Punishment.

The story revolves around three friends, how they face their problems in life, and how they recover from the problems in the rest of the story.
Shahid is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film directed by Hansal Mehta, written by Sameer Gautam Singh and jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra in association with Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under the UTV Spotboy banner. Based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated in 2010, the film stars Rajkummar Rao as Azmi; Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Prabhleen Sandhu and Baljinder Kaur appear in supporting roles.
Gajanan Jagirdar was a veteran Indian film director, screenwriter and actor. He worked in Hindi Cinema, also called Bollywood, as well as Marathi cinema. The period of 1942 to 1947, saw his rise as a film director with Prabhat Films.
Mera Ghar Mere Bachche is a 1960 Indian Hindi-language social family drama film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi. Made under the Minerva Movietone banner, it had music by Sardar Malik with lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri. The film had Naaz starring in an adult lead role after previously acting as a child star. She went on to marry her co-star in the film, Subiraj. It co-starred Sohrab Modi, Sulochana, Sudesh Kumar, Subiraj, Naaz, Daisy Irani and Nana Palsikar.
Aasman Mahal is a 1965 Hindi social family drama film directed by K. A. Abbas. Produced for the "Naya Sansar" banner, its story was written by Abbas, and the cinematographer was Ramchandra. The script and dialogues were by Inder Raj Anand. Prithviraj Kapoor's role as the impoverished Nawab, was acclaimed in the film for its "authenticity". Dilip Raj, son of P. Jairaj, played the hero, having earlier acted in Shehar Aur Sapna (1963). The other co-stars were Surekha, David, Nana Palsikar, Anwar Hussain.
The 28th Annual Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards were held on 1965, honoring the best in Indian cinema in 1964.
Badhaai Ho is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Sharma, Aleya Sen and Hemant Bhandari under Chrome Pictures and Vineet Jain under Junglee Pictures. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Neena Gupta with Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri, Shardul Rana and Sanya Malhotra in supporting roles. The film tells the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant, much to the disappointment of their sons. Based on a script written by Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial and a story conceived by Jyoti Kapoor.
