Career

Mathur joined the CRPF as Assistant Commandant and trained at CRPF Academy in Gurgaon. He has also served in CRPF Valley QAT. [2]

The Ashoka Chakra is India's highest peacetime military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield. It is the peacetime equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), and is awarded for the "most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent valour or self-sacrifice" other than in the face of the enemy. The decoration may be awarded either to military or civilian personnel.

The Shaurya Chakra is an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy. It may be awarded to civilians as well as military personnel, sometimes posthumously. It is third in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards and comes after the Ashoka Chakra and the Kirti Chakra. It precedes the Yudh Seva Medal.[total recipients 2094]. The Kirti Chakra is an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the field of battle. It may be awarded to civilians as well as military personnel, including posthumous awards. It is the peacetime equivalent of the Maha Vir Chakra. It is second in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards, comes after Ashoka Chakra and before Shaurya Chakra. Before 1967, the award was known as the Ashoka Chakra, Class II.

Colonel Ajay Kothiyal, KC, SC, VSM (Retd) is an Indian politician and a former officer of the Indian Army. He was leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and was the CM Candidate for 2022 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly elections. Kothiyal lost the election to BJP candidate in Gangotri Assembly constituency. In May 2022, he resigned from AAP and joined BJP.

Sapper Prakash Jadhav, KC was an Indian Army soldier. Belonging to the Engineers’ Corps, he served in the 1 Rashtriya Rifles. He was awarded the Kirti Chakra, India's second highest peacetime military decoration, posthumously. On November 27, 2018, he was leading a cordon and search operation in a village of Jammu and Kashmir when he was killed in action after killing one terrorist, injuring another and saving his buddy & team members. In addition to gunshots, he was attacked with petrol bombs.

Harshpal Singh Indian police officer

Second-in-Command Harshpal Singh, KC, PMG & two bars, JPM, is a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Officer. He joined the CRPF in 2004. He received the Kirti Chakra, India's second highest peacetime gallantry medal, on 15 August 2019, for eliminating three terrorists despite being injured.

Corporal Devendra Mehta, SC is a serving commando in the Indian Air Force. He is from the Garud Commando Force unit. He is the recipient of the Shaurya Chakra, India's third-highest peacetime gallantry medal. He was presented the award on 26 January 2018 by the President of India. In 2017, he was deployed to the 13 Rashtriya Rifles battalion for Operation Rakshak. Mehta killed six terrorists with Light Machine Gun (LMG). During the same operation, he evacuated his buddy Jyoti Prakash Nirala. He awarded the gallantry for showing exceptional situational awareness and effective combat skills during a cordon and search operation.

CRPF Valley Quick Action Team also known as Valley QAT is the elite anti-terrorist unit of the CRPF which operates in Jammu and Kashmir. This team of highly trained commandos operates with Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
