Raina Douris (born February 2, 1986) is a Canadian radio broadcaster, currently working in the United States as the host of NPR's syndicated music program World Cafe . [1]

Originally from Stouffville, Ontario, Douris studied radio and television broadcasting at Ryerson University, [2] and interned with CFNY-FM (102.1 The Edge) in Toronto beginning in 2009. During her time with the station she launched its "Indie Online" feature, to provide exposure on the station's website to local indie rock bands who had not yet graduated to rotation in the station's regular playlist. [2]

She left CFNY in 2012 to join CBC Radio 3, [2] remaining with that service for about a year before joining Toronto's new CIND-FM (Indie 88). [3] During her time with that station, she was named Best Local Radio Personality in NOW's annual Best of Toronto reader poll two years in a row. [4]

She returned to the CBC in 2016, serving as host of CBC Music's national morning show Mornings and CBC Television's CBC Music Backstage Pass . [5] She left CBC Music in September 2019, hosting her last episode of Mornings on September 13.

Douris was the host of the Polaris Music Prize galas in 2018 and 2019. [6]

It was announced on September 18, 2019, that Douris would replace Talia Schlanger as lead host of World Cafe. [1] She is the third full-time host in the program's history.

During his stint at CFNY, his nickname was "The Mars Bar".

KCSN is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to Northridge, California and owned by California State University, Northridge. The station simulcasts with KSBR from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. The station primarily airs adult album alternative (AAA) and Americana music with a mix of legends, new music, and local music with some specialty programming on weekends.

The Polaris Music Prize is a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. The award was established in 2006 with a $20,000 cash prize; the prize was increased to $30,000 for the 2011 award. In May 2015, the Polaris Music Prize was increased to $50,000, an additional $20,000, sponsored by Slaight Music. Additionally, second place prizes for the nine other acts on the Short List increased from $2,000 to $3,000. Polaris officials also announced The Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize, an award that "will annually honour five albums from the five decades before Polaris launched in 2006." Dave "Bookie" Bookman was a Canadian radio personality, most noted for his long career in the Toronto radio market. Associated primarily with CFNY-FM and later with CIND-FM, he was known as a passionate promoter of indie music and as an excellent interviewer with a gift for getting even famously "difficult" or reclusive musicians, such as David Byrne, Jeff Tweedy and Elvis Costello, to open up more than usual in interviews.
