Rajarajeshwari Nagar, officially Rajarajeshwari Nagara is a western suburb of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It is located in the southwestern part of Bangalore along the Mysore Road, with Nagarbhavi and the Bangalore University to the north and north-west, Hosakerehalli to the east and Kengeri to the south-west. There is a prominent arch-shaped structure on Mysore Road which serves as the most popular entrance to this locality.

In historical texts this region was known as Kalyananagari, lies on the east–west meridian of Karnataka, which is situated in the southwest between the Cauvery and Vrishabhavati rivers. This place is considered the "ear" or "karnabhaga" of the several Shaktipeethas, according to the Tantra Chudamani. [2] Tiruchi Swamigal laid the foundation stone for the Jnanakshi Rajarajeshwari Temple in early 1960. [3] Known as Kenchenahalli at the time, later named as Rajarajeshwari Nagar which is named after the goddess Rajarajeshwari of the Jnanakshi Rajarajeshwari Temple. [4] The locality has plenty of greenery and has contributed to many rallies and protests regarding the nature. Ideal Homes, BEML Layout, BHEL Layout, Krishna Garden, Halagevaderahalli, Kenchenahalli, Pattanagere, Gattigere, Channasandra and Ganakal are some of the sublocalities within Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Culture

The Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath is set to open a 14-acre campus in Rajarajeshwari Nagar by 2020. [6]

The neighbourhood is known for its vigilance against garbage dumping. Residents of the locality have formed a volunteer group called "Swachh RR Nagar" to clear garbage from public places in the area. [7] In 2019, BBMP installed CCTV cameras in the locality to monitor and curb garbage dumping. [8]

Residents of RR Nagar also ensure that the ban on plastic is enforced in the neighbourhood by donating paper covers and cloth bags to vendors. [9] [10] The locality reportedly became "plastic-free" in mid 2019. [11]

Global Village Tech Park

The Global Village Tech Park, spread over 120 acres, is located in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. A number of companies' offices are present in the Park. The headquarters of IT services firm Mindtree is also located there.

This park houses Lakshmi Kantha temple. It was looked after by residents association, in 2018 the corporator allotted funds and developed it further. The park was eyed for its medicinal trees and was sanctioned to be cut down completely and set up a landscaped area but the senior citizens of the locality who nurtured the park protested and stopped it. Rajarajeshwari Nagar is an elevated metro station on the East-West corridor of the Purple Line of Namma Metro serving the residential locality of Rajarajeshwari Nagar which was named after the Jnanalakshi Rajarajeshwari temple located in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru, India. To the north is the Bangalore University and to the south is the suburb city of Kengeri along with Kengeri Metro Station. The station was inaugurated on 29 August 2021 and was opened to the public on 30 August 2021.

Akshay Nagar is a neighbourhood in Begur ward in Southeast Bangalore. It is surrounded by Hulimavu to the west and Begur to the east. The area has undergone rapid residential and commercial development since the early 2010s, including several high-rise apartment complexes. Jnanakshi Rajarajeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple located in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru district in Karnataka. The primary deity of the temple is Shri Rajarajeshwari. The temple was constructed in the year 1978 by Sri Sivaratnapuri Swamiji. The idol of Goddess Sri Rajarajeshwari, a form of Goddess Sri Lalita Tripurasundari. This temple is believed to be the "ear" or "karnabhaga" of Bharat's many Shaktipeethas as mentioned in the Tantra Chudamani. It was once known as Kanchanagiri situated between the Cauvery and Vrishabhavati rivers. The ruling Bhairava, Abiru Bhairava, is known as Jaya Peetha. The temple is believed to have been the home of the pious wife Anusuya and the sage Atri, who attained siddhi by appeasing the holy mother Sri Rajarajeshwari. The temple grounds are believed to be a sacred place for various devas, rishis, munis, and siddhas.
