The Raleigh School is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational day school located in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, serving students from 18 months through fifth grade. Its forerunner, Raleigh Preschool, was established in 1952 and received a state charter in 1955. The current name, The Raleigh School, was adopted in 1992, and the K-5 program was added in 1993. [1]
For the 2012-2013 school year, there were 180 students in the preschool program. There are 15 classes offered per week at the preschool for ages 18 months through age 5. The student-teacher ratio varies by age/class. The average ratio is 6:1.
In 2013, there are 264 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Each class has a size of 22 and a student-teacher ratio of 11:1. [2]
The preschool program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children through 2015. [3] The elementary school is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools through 2014. [4]
On October 2, 2007, The Raleigh School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, [5] [6] the highest award an American school can receive. [7] [8]
The Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) is a coeducational four-year magnet public high school located in the Sandy Hook section of Middletown Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grade. The school offers learning in all subjects, specializing in marine technology and science. It is one of five career academies administered by the Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD). MAST requires each student to participate in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NJROTC) every year as well as an Annual Military Inspection (AMI) in the spring or fall.
