Ram G. Takwale (11 April 1933 –13 May 2023) was an Indian academic administrator who was the vice chancellor of the University of Pune from 1978 to 1984, [1] a vice chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University and chairman of National Assessment and Accreditation Council. [2]
Takwale was born on 11 April 1933. [3] [4] He died on 13 May 2023,at the age of 90. [5]

University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) was established in 1917,under the name Government Engineering College,by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. It is the 5th engineering college to be established in the country and 1st in Karnataka. UVCE is one of the few technical institutions in the country that is vested with the status of a university and autonomy on the lines of IITs. It is one of the oldest technical institutions in the country,imparting technical education leading to B.Tech.,B. Arch.,M.Tech.,M. Sarvagya Singh Katiyar,FRSC,popularly known as S. S. Katiyar,was an Indian scientist specializing in enzymology,and the founder Director of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University,Lucknow. He is a former president of the Association of Indian Universities and a former vice chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University,Kanpur and Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. He was honoured by the Government of India in 2003 with Padma Shri,the fourth highest Indian civilian award,followed by Padma Bhushan,the third highest civilian award,in 2009.
Najma Akhtar is an Indian academic and academic administrator. She served as the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia from 12 April 2019 until 12 November 2023. She is also the first woman to hold the post in JMI. In 2022,she was awarded with Padma Shri by the Government of India.
