Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) is a state, [2] open university, located in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. It was established in 1989 under the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Act, 1989. [3]

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan was an Indian freedom fighter and politician who served as 8th Minister of Finance from 1970 to 1971 and 1971 to 1974. He served as the last Chief Minister of Bombay State and the first of Maharashtra after latter was created by the division of Bombay state. His last significant ministerial post was as the Deputy Prime Minister of India in the short lived Charan Singh government in 1979.

Rayat Shikshan Sanstha's Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College(formerly known as Modern College ) is a college in Juhu Nagar (Vashi) Navi Mumbai. The college was established in 1979 and was affiliated with the University of Mumbai, but is now conferred with Autonomy since 2018. The college is named after Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, a social activist and educationist and the founder of the Rayat Education Society.
