Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), formerly Kota Open University, is an open university in Kota, Rajasthan, India, established in 1987. [2] VMOU offers courses particularly in the humanities, commerce, library science and informatics. [3] It is geographically distributed throughout Rajasthan, with regional centres in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur and Bharatpur, and several tens of study centres in other cities, in addition to a special centre at New Delhi.[ citation needed ] Ratan Lal Godara was appointed vice chancellor of VMOU in 2019. [4]

Furqan Qamar is a former vice-chancellor of University of Rajasthan and first vice-chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier he was associated with Association of Indian Universities. Professor Furqan Qamar, was the Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, i.e. the principal executive officer of the largest and one of the oldest network of universities. He has also served as Advisor (Education) in the Planning Commission of India.
