Ramana Gogula is an Indo-American music composer and singer of film music and Indian pop, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. [1] His notable film compositions include Premante Idera (1998), Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000), Johnny (2003), Lakshmi (2006), Annavaram (2006), Yogi (2007). [2] [3] He is known for his collaborations with Pawan Kalyan with whom he worked for four films.

He is currently the Vice President, Clean Technology Innovation at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc and a venture partner at Anthill Ventures. [1]

Early life and career

In 1996, his band Misty Rhythms released the Indie Pop studio album Aye Laila along with a music video which became a chart buster on major music channels MTV and Channel [V] in India. [4] He then ventured into Telugu cinema and composed songs and background score for around 25 films predominantly in Telugu with a few films in Kannada and Tamil languages.

As an entrepreneur, Ramana Gogula founded startups like Liqwid Krystal in the education sector, and Earthen Glow that provides off-grid solar lighting to villages. He is also the Vice President, Clean Technology Innovation at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc and a venture partner at Anthill Ventures. Annavaram is a 2006 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao and stars Pawan Kalyan, Asin and Sandhya in the lead roles. Megaa Super Good Films produced the film. The film is a remake of Tamil film Thirupaachi. The film released on 29 December 2006. However, the soundtrack of the film was released on 14 December 2006. The film received mixed reviews and was an average at the box-office praising Kalyan's action role. It also marked Asin's last Telugu film, to date.

Premante Idera is 1998 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee, and produced by Burugupalli Siva Rama Krishna and K. Ashok Kumar under the Sri Lakshmi Venteswara Art Films banner. The film stars Venkatesh and Preity Zinta, with music composed by Ramana Gogula, in his first composition.

Yogi is a 2007 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by V. V. Vinayak, starring Prabhas, Nayanthara and Sharada. It also features Ali, Subbaraju, Pradeep Rawat and Kota Srinivasa Rao in the supporting roles. Ramana Gogula composed the music for V. V. Vinayak's earlier hit Lakshmi, also composed music for this film. Songs were shot in Canada, Egypt, and Malaysia. This film is a remake of the 2005 Kannada blockbuster film Jogi by Prem. The film was released on 12 January 2007.

The film revolves around a martial arts coach who decides to use his skills to earn prize money in competitions required to save his wife suffering from blood cancer. Mirchi Music Awards South is the South Indian segment of the annual Mirchi Music Awards, presented by Radio Mirchi to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the South Indian music industry. The awards are separately given for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. The awards were first given out in 2010 for the best of 2009 and the ceremony was held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on 17 July 2010.The print partner was The Times of India. The broadcast partners wre Star's Kannada offering Suvarna TV, Star's Tamil channel Vijay TV, Zee Telugu & ETV, Star's Malayalam channel Asianet plus. The second edition was held in Nehru Indoor Stadium on 10 September 2011.

The movie is a remake of 1999 Telugu movie Thammudu which was based on 1992 Hindi movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar which in turn was inspired by the 1979 American movie Breaking Away. The film was released on 2 November 2001 across cinema halls in Karnataka. The film finished a 50 day theatrical run.
