Ramon Bailey (born February 22, 1984) is a former Jamaican footballer who played as a midfielder.

Club career

Early career

Bailey played college soccer with Merced College where he was named to the All-American first team and received the MVP award. [1] [2] In 2005, he signed a contract with the MetroStars of the Major League Soccer. [3] Bailey was confided to the team's reserve squad in his debut season. [4] After a change in management, he was released by the club in 2006. [5]

Finland

Following his release from New York, he secured a contract abroad in the Finnish Ykkönen with Kokkolan Palloveikot. [6] [7] Bailey would appear in the 2006 Finnish Cup final where Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi defeated Kokkolan. [8]

Jamaica

In 2007, he returned to his native country to sign with defending champions Waterhouse F.C. in the Jamaica Premier League. [9] [10]

Canada

Bailey joined the interprovincial Canadian Soccer League in the summer of 2008 to play with Portugal FC. [11] He re-signed with the Toronto-based club in 2009. [12] In 2012, he signed with league rivals the Serbian White Eagles. [13] He would help the Serbs secure a playoff berth by finishing sixth in the league's first division. [14] In the opening round of the playoffs, the White Eagles defeated his former team Portugal FC (renamed SC Toronto). [15] Their playoff journey would conclude in the next round after a defeat by Toronto Croatia.

Bailey returned to play with the Serbs for the 2013 season. [16] He helped the team secure another playoff berth by finishing eighth in his sophomore year with Serbia. [17] Kingston FC would eliminate Serbia in the opening round of the postseason. [18] In 2014, he joined SC Waterloo Region. [19] He helped Waterloo secure a playoff berth in his debut season. [20] He recorded a goal against Toronto Croatia in the opening match of the playoffs. [21] Bailey re-signed with Waterloo for the 2015 season. [22] Waterloo would reach the championship finals where they lost the match to Toronto Croatia. [23] In 2017, he contributed a goal against his former club the Serbian White Eagles in the preliminary round of the postseason. [24]

SC Waterloo Region is a professional Canadian soccer team that plays in the Canadian Soccer League, a non-FIFA-sanctioned league. The club was formed in 2011 under the name KW United FC and competed in the Second Division of the CSL. The following year the organization's name was changed to SC Waterloo Region and was promoted to the First Division. Within a short time Waterloo enjoyed a string of success within the league. Their biggest achievement came in the 2013 season by winning the CSL Championship, and reaching the championship match finals once more in 2015 only to lose to Toronto Croatia. In 2016, the organization voluntarily relegated itself to the CSL Second Division.

The 2012 Canadian Soccer League season was the 15th since its establishment where a total of 28 teams from Ontario and Quebec took part in the league. The season began on 5 May 2012, and concluded on 27 October 2012. Toronto Croatia defended their championship in a 1–0 victory over the Montreal Impact Academy in the CSL Championship final at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto. Montreal became the second Quebec club after Trois-Rivières Attak to reach the final, while Toronto added more silverware to their cabinet by winning the double during the regular season. In the Second Division SC Toronto B won their first Second Division championship, and TFC Academy II secured the regular season title.

York Region Shooters won their second championship in a 5–4 victory in a penalty shootout over Toronto Croatia in the CSL Championship final held at Esther Shiner Stadium in Toronto. York Region became the second club in the league's history to produce a perfect season, and championship after the Toronto Olympians in the 1999 season.

The 2018 season was Scarborough SC's fourth season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season official commenced on May 19, 2018, in an away match against FC Ukraine United. The season proved to be a successful one as Scarborough managed to compete in the top four and ultimately secured a playoff berth by finishing fourth in the First Division. In the postseason tournament Scarborough successfully defeated Hamilton City SC, and FC Ukraine in the earlier rounds in order to reach the CSL Championship final for the second straight season. Their opposition in the finals were FC Vorkuta, but ultimately were defeated in a penalty shootout.

The 2015 season was York Region Shooters's 18th season in the Canadian Soccer League. It began on May 10, 2015 and concluded on October 18, 2015. York Region entered the season as reigning CSL champions after producing a perfect season in the previous campaign. After a difficult start to the season York Region managed to recover midway through the season, and secured a postseason berth. In the playoffs the Shooters won the opening match, but failed to successfully defend their championship title following a defeat to Toronto Croatia. While Richard West finished for the third consecutive season as the club's top goalscorer with 23 goals, and subsequently as the league's CSL Golden Boot winner.
