Rangbaaz is a 1996 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Kanti Shah, starring Mithun Chakraborty playing three roles in opposive, Shilpa Shirodkar, Deepak Shirke, Paresh Rawal, Rami Reddy, Mohan Joshi, Kader Khan and Kiran Kumar. [1] The film is a low budget exact copy of the 1989 film Tridev. Sunny Deol is seen in an explosion scene, which is directly taken from the film Tridev. [2] The film is directed by Kanti Shah, who also directed Gunda with Mithun. The dialogues are written by Bashir Bhai Babbar, who has produced the same cheesy and rhyming dialogues as he did in Gunda.
The story concerns three look-alikes: the honest Inspector Kanhaya, the unlucky Kundan and Banarasi, who is a Robin Hood type. Jhangura, a terrorist want to destroy the state. He plants bombs in hospital, kills thousands of people but police could not capture him because his spy is in the police force. His goons falsely implicate Kanhaya, kill the judge or whoever attempts to counter him. Jhangura eventually kidnaps the commissioner of police in order to lure his pursuers into a trap, but the look-alikes discover his plot and work with the police to rescue the commissioner and their respective girl friends.

Earlier the film was titled as Gundagiri but later it was changed. The narrative revolves around a coolie who vows to exact revenge upon a crime lord and his cronies after they kill his loved ones.

It took bumper opening when released. It was made with appx 2cr and earned more than 3.5cr total collection and declared an above average at the box office.
