Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal (Born on 26 December 1975) is an officer of the Indian Army, an internationally renowned mountaineer, and an adventurer of the country. He is the only person in the world to climb the highest mountain in the world, the highest mountain of all seven continents, and the highest peak in all 28 states of India. [1]
He is a veteran of more than 70 mountaineering expeditions across all seven continents and has one world record, two Asian records and four Indian records to his credit. [2]
Ranveer Jamwal is a third-generation soldier who was born on 26 December 1975 to Sh Onkar Singh, a Havildar in the Indian Army. [3] His family is from Badhori of Samba district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He completed his primary and secondary education from Army school, Ratnuchak. He cleared the officer examination (Army Cadet college) and joined the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1998. [3]
Ranveer Singh Jamwal did all four courses in skiing and mountaineering at High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), Gulmarg, in 2003. He also did his specialization course in search and rescue from the Swiss mountain school Andermatt in 2007. [4]
Since 1999, Col Ranveer Singh Jamal has been into trekking & outdoor adventure activities like white water rafting & cycling. After qualifying in all four courses in mountaineering and skiing in 2003, he was appointed as an instructor in the High Altitude Warfare School Gulmarg in 2006. In 2007, he climbed Mt. Machoi (5658 Mtr), marking the beginning of his illustrious mountaineering journey.

In 2022, Col Ranveer Jamwal conceptualized and led the “Har Shikhar Tiranga Mission.” This was an unprecedented mission wherein team NIMAS scaled the highest peaks of all 28 states of India. [11]
It was an endeavor that tested their physical endurance and brought to life the unity and strength that our diverse country embodies, a source of immense pride for all Indians. With this, Col Jamwal became the only person in the world to climb the highest mountain in the world, the highest mountain of all seven continents, and the highest peak of all 28 states of India. In 2022, Col Jamwal and his team at NIMAS achieved a remarkable feat. Leading a seven-member team, they cycled 1100 km in all seven Northeastern states, a journey that required not just individual skill but also seamless teamwork, becoming the first team ever to do so. [12]
In Feb 2023, Col Jamwal once again etched his name in the annals of cycling history. He led an expedition that covered 5374 km in 37 days, spanning 6 Southeastern Asian nations. This remarkable journey not only set a new Asian and Indian record but also earned him the respect and admiration of the entire cycling community. [12]
Bachendri Pal is an Indian mountaineer. In 1984, she became the first Indian woman to climb the summit of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest. She was awarded the third highest civilian award in India, Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2019.
Harish Chandra Singh Rawat was a mountaineer who climbed the Mt. Everest in 1965. He was one of the 9 summiters of the first successful Indian Everest Expeditions that climbed Mount Everest in May 1965 led by Captain M S Kohli. He is the 7th Indian man and 22nd man in world that climbed Mount Everest. On 24 May 1965 Vohra and Ang Kami Sherpa together reached the top of Mount Everest. On 29 May, 12 years to the day from the first ascent of Mount Everest the fourth and last summit team with Major H. P. S. Ahluwalia and Phu Dorjee Sherpa, Rawat reached on the summit. This was the first time three climbers stood on the summit together.

Premlata Agrawal is the first Indian woman to scale the Seven Summits, the seven highest continental peaks of the world. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013 and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in 2017 for her achievements in the field of mountaineering. On 17 May 2011, she became the oldest Indian woman to have scaled the world's tallest peak, Mount Everest (29,032 ft.); at the age of 48 years at that time while Sangeeta Sindhi Bahl hailing from Jammu and Kashmir broke Premlata's record on 19 May 2018 and became the oldest Indian woman to climb Mount Everest at the age of 53.
Arunima Sinha is an Indian mountaineer and sportswoman. She is India's first female amputee and world's second female amputee to scale Mount Everest (Asia), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Aconcagua, Denali and Vinson Massif (Antarctica). She is also a seven time Indian volleyball player. Before Arunima, Rhonda Graham from USA world's first female amputee climbed Mount Everest in October 2011.
Love Raj Singh Dharmshaktu is an Indian mountaineer who has climbed Mount Everest seven times.
Colonel Narendra Kumar, PVSM, KC, AVSM, FRGS was an Indian soldier and mountaineer. He is known for his expeditions across various mountain ranges such as the Himalayas and Karakorams, and respective subranges such as the Pir Panjals and Saltoro Mountains. His reconnaissance efforts on the Siachen glacier were key to the Indian Army's reclamation of the forward posts of the glacier in Operation Meghdoot in 1984. He was the deputy leader of the first successful Indian Mount Everest expedition in 1965.

He is a BJP leader, earlier he was leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and was the CM Candidate for 2022 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly elections. Kothiyal lost the election to BJP candidate in Gangotri Assembly constituency. In May 2022, he resigned from AAP and joined BJP.

Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Chhering Norbu Bodh, SC, (retd.) is a retired personnel of the Indian Army, known for his mountaineering achievements while in the army. Bodh holds a number of Indian summiting records related to 8,000m peaks. Among others, he is the first Indian mountaineer to have climbed six of the fourteen 8000m peaks in the world, and the first Indian to stand atop Lhotse and Annapurna-1.
