Rashad Jamal Taylor (born March 21,1981) is a political consultant and former politician from Atlanta,Georgia. A Democrat,he served from 2009 to 2013 in the Georgia House of Representatives,representing the City of Atlanta from the 55th House District. He was first elected in November 2008. After re-election in 2010,he was elected Vice Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus,the fourth highest ranking leadership position in the House. At 31,Taylor was the youngest member of the General Assembly leadership,House or Senate,Democrat or Republican.
Taylor was born and raised in Washington,D.C.,where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He was selected for an internship via the Congressional Black Caucus College Internship Program,and interned in the office of Rep. John Lewis (D–Georgia) before moving to Atlanta where he attended college. He moved to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College,and also worked as a Finance Assistant for US Senator Max Cleland.[ citation needed ]
Taylor worked as a political consultant and campaign manager,managing the campaigns of Alisha Thomas Morgan,elected to the Georgia House in 2002,and Khaatim S. El,elected to the Atlanta Board of Education in 2003.[ citation needed ] In 2006,he became a lobbyist and legislative coordinator for Planned Parenthood of Georgia. In May 2006,Rashad Taylor was named one of ten Democratic "Rising Stars" in national politics by Campaigns and Elections.[ citation needed ] In June 2007,Taylor was appointed political director of the Democratic Party of Georgia,a position he held until joining the Legislature in January 2009.[ citation needed ]
In 2009,Rep. Taylor was deputy campaign manager for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's mayoral campaign and worked on Mayor Reed's transition team. [1] In 2010,Taylor managed the successful re-election campaign of Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves.[ citation needed ]
In 2008,state representative Mable Thomas decided against seeking re-election,choosing instead to mount an unsuccessful primary challenge to John Lewis in the 5th congressional district. Her decision created an open seat in the Georgia House,which attracted two candidates,both Democrats,one of whom was Taylor. In the primary election held on July 15,2008,Taylor earned 62.8% of the vote and won the Democratic nomination. He faced no opposition in the general election and took office on January 12,2009.[ citation needed ] He ran for re-election in 2010,facing a primary challenge from Mable Thomas,his predecessor in office. In the Democratic primary election held on July 20,2010,Taylor won 56.1%,winning by a margin of 349 votes. [2] Once again,he won the general election unopposed. His second term expired in January 2013.
After re-election in 2010,Taylor was elected Vice Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus,handily defeating three other colleagues without a run-off election. Taylor was also appointed Chairman of the Atlanta-Fulton Legislative Delegation Subcommittee on Housing and Economic Development. Taylor sponsored legislation for the City of Atlanta to extend its hotel/motel tax to help fund the construction of a new Georgia Dome.[ citation needed ]
On May 27,2011,Taylor came out as gay following the circulation of an e-mail that accused Taylor of being gay and of using his official position to solicit sexual relationships. [3] Taylor's accuser later admitted he had no proof for his allegations. [4]
Ralph Eugene Reed Jr. is an American political consultant and lobbyist,best known as the first executive director of the Christian Coalition during the early 1990s. He sought the Republican nomination for the office of Lieutenant Governor of Georgia but lost the primary election on July 18,2006,to state Senator Casey Cagle. Reed started the Faith and Freedom Coalition in June 2009. Reed and his wife JoAnne Young were married in 1987 and have four children. He is a member of the Council for National Policy.

A Democrat,Reed was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002 and represented the 35th District in the Georgia State Senate from 2003 to 2009. He served as campaign manager for Shirley Franklin's successful Atlanta mayoral campaign in 2001. After Franklin was term limited from the mayor's office,Reed successfully ran for the position in 2009. Inaugurated on January 4,2010,Reed was elected to a second term in 2013.

Tracy Ogden King is an American politician and hearing aid specialist from Uvalde,who has been a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives from the 80th district since 2005. Beginning in January 2023,the revised District 80 includes the counties of Dimmit,Frio,Uvalde,Atascosa,Zavala,and some of Webb County outside Laredo. He is the only Anglo Democrat from a heavily rural district. By contrast,there were eighty-five Anglo Democrats in the House in 1985,eighty-three in 1987,with fifty-six of those from primarily rural areas. King was initially elected to Texas House of Representatives as a representative of the 43rd district on November 8,1994,when he unseated the one-term Democrat-turned-Republican incumbent Pedro G. Jeremy Allen Moss is an American politician from Southfield,Michigan currently representing the 7th State Senate District,which includes all of Auburn Hills,Bloomfield Hills,Bloomfield Township,Lake Angelus,Lathrup Village,Pontiac,Southfield,and parts of Detroit,Southfield Township,and Waterford Township. A special election to determine the member of the United States House of Representatives for Georgia's 6th congressional district was held on April 18,2017,with a runoff held two months later on June 20. Republican Karen Handel narrowly defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in the runoff vote,51.8% to 48.2%. Handel succeeded Tom Price,who resigned from the seat following his confirmation as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration. The runoff election was necessary when no individual candidate earned the majority of votes in the election on April 18. Ossoff received 48.1% of the vote in the first round,followed by Handel with 19.8%.
