Ravidas Mehrotra (born 21 April 1955) is an Indian politician and former cabinet minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh led by Akhilesh Yadav. He was member of Tenth and Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The Uttar Pradesh illegal sand mining scam is a political scandal relating to events that occurred in 2012–2017 during the Samajwadi Party (SP) rule. It is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the 2016 orders of Allahabad High Court for allowing illegal mining in 7 districts of Uttar Pradesh –Shamli,Hamirpur,Fatehpur,Siddharthnagar,Deoria,Kaushambi and Saharanpur –in violation of rules and ban by the National Green Tribunal. On 5 January 2019,the CBI raided 14 suspects in 14 locations in 7 cities across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi pertaining to this scam,and incriminating evidence was seized.
Vinod Kumar Singh alias Pandit Singh was an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh. A three-time legislator and a senior member of the Samajwadi Party,Pandit Singh represented Gonda assembly constituency in the 13th,14th and 16th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly which is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Uttar Pradesh. He also served as a cabinet minister in the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh under the chief ministership of Akhilesh Yadav. He also contested the 2019 parliamentary elections from Gonda but lost to Kirti Vardhan Singh of BJP. He died on 7 May 2021 from COVID-19 related complications at the age of 59 years.
