Gameplay features a mix of adventure, visual novel, detective and dating simulator elements. The first game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, was released for the PlayStation Portable in 2010.

Tappei Nagatsuki (長月達平) is a Japanese novelist. He is the author of the light novel series Re:Zero. The series has been adapted into an anime. He initially serialized the series as a web novel on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō from April 20, 2012 onwards. As of April 1, 2016, he has published thirty eight novels and five side stories, comprising a total of 686 chapters. Following the web novel's publication, Media Factory acquired the series for print publication. As of May 2024, thirty seven volumes have been published, as well as five side story volumes and ten short story collections. The series adapted into anime, manga and visual novel. Nagatsuki was very active in the production of the anime, attending script meetings, recording sessions, and dubbing.

It includes novels, light novels, films, manga, anime, and video games that revolve around a displaced person or people who are transported to and have to survive in another world such as a fantasy world, game world, or parallel universe with or without the possibility of returning to their original world. Isekai is one of the most popular genres of anime, and isekai stories share many common tropes – for example, a powerful protagonist who is able to beat most people in the other world by fighting. This plot device typically allows the audience to learn about the new world at the same pace as the protagonist over the course of their quest or lifetime. Subaru is a young hikikomori who suddenly finds himself transported to another world on his way home from the convenience store. While dealing with the new society, he also encounters catastrophes that result in his death, though he is always revived to a point in time where he can make substantial changes. Using this "Return by Death" ability, Subaru searches for a way to protect his newly found friends. Aside from the anime and video games based on the series, Subaru also appears in the gag series Isekai Quartet.
Rem is a fictional character from the fantasy light novel and anime series Re:Zero, created by Tappei Nagatsuki. She is voiced by Inori Minase in Japan and by Brianna Knickerbocker in the English dub. She first appeared within Volume 2 of the light novel, "The Road to Redemption Begins" in 2014 and made her anime debut in the episode "The Happy Roswaal Mansion Family", the fourth episode of the anime, in April 2016.

In March 2019, it was announced that a second season of the anime series was in production. The cast and staff reprised their roles for the second season. It was originally scheduled to premiere in April 2020, but was delayed to July 2020 due to production complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The season aired in two split cours, with the first half premiering on July 8, 2020, and the second half premiering on January 6, 2021. For the first cours the opening theme song is "Realize" performed by Konomi Suzuki, while the ending theme song is "Memento" performed by Nonoc. For the secound cours the opening theme song is "Long Shot" performed by Mayu Maeshima, while the ending theme song is "Believe In You" performed by Nonoc. The second season adapts volumes 10–15 of the light novel series.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Morito Yamataka was serialized in Mag Garden's Mag Comi website from April 10 to August 10, 2021, while a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara with illustrations by Loundraw was published under the Wit Novel imprint from April 30 to July 30, 2021.
Buddy Mission Bond is a 2021 adventure video game developed by Ruby Party and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The game was revealed at a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on October 28 and released on January 29, 2021 in Japan and August 20, 2021 in Korea and Taiwan.

For the first cours, titled the "Attack Arc", the opening theme song is "Reweave" performed by Konomi Suzuki, while the ending theme song is "Nox Lux" performed by Myth & Roid. A second cours, titled the "Counterattack Arc", is set to premiere later on February 5, 2025.
