Real Democracy (Dutch : Echte Democratie, Papiamento : Democracia Real, PDR) is a political party in Aruba.

Election history

The party was founded by Andin Bikker on 20 August 2004. In the 2005 elections for the Estates on 23 September 2005, the party won 3,98% of the popular vote, but failed to win a seat. [2]

In the 2009 elections on 25 September 2009, the party won a single seat. [3] [4]

In the 2013 elections, the party managed to keep their one seat. [5] The party did not participate in the 2017 elections, instead merging with the POR party.

Same-sex marriages are not performed in Aruba, Curaçao, or Sint Maarten, which are constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Democratic Network is a progressive, green political party in Aruba. Since the 2017 Aruban general election it has one seat in the Estates of Aruba and is part of the government coalition under Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes.

Aruban Patriotic Movement

The Aruban Patriot Movement is a political party in Aruba, formed by dissidents of the Aruban Patriotic Party. At the last elections for the Estates, 23 September 2005, the party won 7% of the popular vote and 1 out of 21 seats. The party lost its one seat in the 2009 election.

2009 Aruban general election

General elections were held in Aruba on 25 September 2009. The elections were the seventh to be held for membership of the Estates since autonomy was granted by the Dutch in 1986, and resulted in a victory for the Aruban People's Party, which won 12 of the 21 seats in the Estates.

2017 Norwegian parliamentary election 2017 election for the Norwegian parliament

A parliamentary election was held in Norway on 11 September 2017 to elect all 169 members of the unicameral Norwegian Parliament, the Storting. The non-socialist parties retained a reduced majority of 88 seats, allowing Prime Minister Erna Solberg's Conservative-Progress coalition to remain in government. The Liberal Party joined the coalition in January 2018 but it remained a minority cabinet until the Christian Democratic Party joined the coalition in 2019. Guillfred Francis Besaril is an Aruban politician of the People's Electoral Movement. He has been Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba since 20 November 2017. He previously served in the Estates of Aruba between 2013 and November 2017, the last month as president.

Thijs Reuten Dutch politician

M.J.A. "Thijs" Reuten is a Dutch politician of the Labour Party (PvdA). He began his career as a policy advisor of the party's parliamentary group in the House of Representatives and was a member of the Amsterdam municipal council in the years 2002–07. He then served for two terms as a district alderman in Amsterdam-Oost with a focus on housing and the economy. Starting in 2018, Reuten worked as an independent consultant and as head of policy at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). He was appointed to the European Parliament in April 2021 after the resignation of Kati Piri.
