Personal life

Field starting playing bowls at the age of eight, [4] [5] in her local village hall in York, [2] giving the short mat game a go. [5] She was attracted to the sport following a big drive in the 1990s to get people playing indoor bowls in their communities. [2] Subsequent moves to Boston, Lincolnshire with her family and then to study at the University of East Anglia in Norwich only increased her appetite for the game. [2] Field has language degrees in French and Spanish and currently works for a Norwich-based marketing firm. [2]

Field is a supporter of the Championship team Norwich City Football Club. [3]

Bowls career

Indoors

Field plays and competes for the Norfolk Bowling Club in Norwich. [6] She competed as a junior (U25) international player for several years [6] and won multiple titles. Amongst her accomplishments as a junior, is being a two-time English and British Isles indoor singles champion.

Field first competed for the England senior ladies team at indoor level in 2011, [6] when she was named in the squad for the BIWIBC International Series. [7] Field competed at her first World Indoor Championships in 2012 in the ladies singles event. [2] Organisers invited Field to the competition after being impressed with her recent rise in the sport. [2]

Field reached her first World Indoor Bowls ladies singles final in 2013, defeating Alison Merrien in a tie-break set [8] becoming the youngest ever winner of the event at 23. [4] The victory gained Field a wild card entry into the WBT International Open and direct qualification for the World Indoor Championships in 2014, [1] where she was beaten by 18-year-old Katherine Rednall in the final. [9]

Field was twice runner-up in the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship and 2018 World Indoor Bowls Championship losing to Ellen Falkner and Katherine Rednall respectively. [10] [11]

Outdoors

Field won her first outdoor titles, winning the ladies two-wood singles and junior pairs events at the National Championships in 2014. [12] [13] She first competed for the England senior ladies team at outdoor level in 2015, when she was named in the squad for BWIBC International Series. [14] Also at outdoor level in 2015, Field was selected to represent England at the European Team Championships and Atlantic Rim Games. [15] She won gold in the ladies pairs, mixed fours and team events at the European Team Championships. [16]

In 2018, she finished runner-up to Amy Gowshall in the National Two Wood Singles. [17] Five years later, she won another national title at the 2023 Bowls England National Finals, partnering her husband Wayne in the mixed pairs. [18]

The Greechans are a family of bowls players from Jersey. Both Lindsey Greechan and Thomas Greechan, compete both indoor and outdoor, as does their daughter Chloe Greechan and son Taylor Greechan. Thomas, Lindsey and Helen are all British champions while Thomas, Lindsey and Chloe have all won the IIBC Championships on at least one occasion each. Lindsey, Thomas and Helen have also represented Jersey at the Commonwealth Games.

The 2016 Just Retirement World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton on Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 08-24 January 2016.
Nick Brett won the blue riband event for the first time after beating Robert Paxton in a competitive final. In the Open Pairs Stewart Anderson and Darren Burnett recorded their first title success. Burnett doubled up by winning the Mixed Pairs title with Katherine Rednall. Ellen Falkner won the Women's Singles defeating Rebecca Field in the final. This was Falkner's third title and was achieved ten years after her last success.

John Rednall is a former international lawn bowler and indoor bowls player from England. He announced his retirement from international bowls in May 2022 and earned over 100 caps for England.

The 2017 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton on Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, on 13–29 January 2017.

The 2021 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship took place at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 8–24 January 2021. The event was organised by the World Bowls Tour, televised by the BBC and streamed live on YouTube. The event was played behind closed doors and there was no under-25 competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a consequence of the pandemic there were no overseas players involved.
