Rebecca N. Wright

Rebecca N. Wright (born 1967) [1] is an American computer scientist known for her research in computer security. She is the Druckenmiller Professor of Computer Science at Barnard College. [2]

Education and career

Wright was an undergraduate at Columbia University, graduating in 1988. [3] She went to Yale University for her graduate studies, and completed her Ph.D. there in 1994. Her dissertation, Achieving Perfect Secrecy Using Correlated Random Variables, was supervised by Michael J. Fischer. [4]

Wright was employed at DIMACS at Rutgers University from 2007 to 2018, [5] starting as deputy director and becoming director in 2011. In January 2019 she moved to Barnard College, as the inaugural director of a new computer science program there. [3]

Recognition

Wright was named an IEEE Fellow in 2017 "for contributions to applied cryptography and privacy". [6]

In 2019 she won the Distinguished Service Award of SIGACT, part of the Association for Computing Machinery, "for her 11-year leadership of DIMACS, particularly in continuing and expanding the research and educational missions of DIMACS, for promoting diversity in computer science, and for using her expertise in privacy and security to help shape public policy on a national level". [7]

Stephanie Forrest is an American computer scientist and director of the Biodesign Center for Biocomputing, Security and Society at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. She was previously Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She is best known for her work in adaptive systems, including genetic algorithms, computational immunology, biological modeling, automated software repair, and computer security.

Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham is the Louis A. Beecherl, Jr. Distinguished Professor of computer science and the Executive Director of the Cyber Security Research and Education Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Informatics at Kings College University of London and a 2017-2018 Cyber Security Policy Fellow at New America.

His research interests included many topics in security and applied cryptography. Deborah Frincke American computer scientist

Deborah A. Frincke is an American academic and computer scientist specializing in computer security who is the associate laboratory director for national security sciences at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Aidong Zhang is a computer scientist whose research topics include databases and bioinformatics, and more specifically cluster analysis for large datasets including spatial databases, gene expression data, and multimedia. She is William Wulf Faculty Fellow and Professor of Computer Science at the University of Virginia, where she also holds affiliations with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and School of Data Science.
