The Pleasant Prairie RecPlex is a recreational facility in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. "The Largest Municipal Recreational Facility in America", [1] it consists of 302,000 square feet [2] in Prairie Springs Park on the shores of Lake Andrea.

History

Planning for the RecPlex began in 1998. WisPark donated $4 million for its construction, after previously providing $1.6 million to construct Prairie Springs Park. [3] Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 12, 1999, and the RecPlex opened almost a year later, on October 1, 2000. [2] The facility included a 17,000 square foot leisure pool, a 60,000 square foot field house, an 8,000 square foot fitness center, a 1/6-mile suspended track, changing rooms, a child-care area and a snack bar. [2]

On January 12, 2004, construction began for an addition to the RecPlex. A new, larger fitness center, more changing rooms, an expanded child-care area, racquetball courts, a multi-purpose studio, and party rooms were all added. In total, the facility's area increased by 42,000 square feet. Separately, a 79,000 square foot ice arena, with two NHL-sized ice rinks and additional amenities, was also constructed. [3]

In late 2008, a second major expansion was announced. [2] An Olympic-sized swimming pool would be built, with $8 million in funding from Uline, [3] which was in the process of moving from Waukegan, Illinois to Pleasant Prairie. [4] The Village broke ground for the pool on June 22, 2009 and completed it almost a year later, on June 10, 2010. The 42,000 square foot expansion also included related amenities, as well as seating for approximately 600 spectators. Water and air in the pool is heated and cooled with geothermal technology placed in the adjacent Lake Andrea. Ultraviolet technology, similar to that installed in the original aquatic center, is used to treat the water.

Don Taft University Center

Nova Southeastern University’s 366,000 square-foot Don Taft University Center is a critical piece in the infrastructure of the university. It was constructed over a period of two years. The inaugural event hosted the comedian Jamie Kennedy on August 23, 2006. It provides a focal point for campus life. It is a venue where NSU's students, faculty and staff, as well as the community can enjoy guest speakers, concerts, sporting events, galas and other events.

The Dundee Township Park District provides park areas, open spaces, recreational facilities and services. The Park District serves the communities of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, and portions of Elgin, Barrington Hills, Hoffman Estates, Gilberts and Algonquin. The park district is in Kane County, Illinois.

The Original Outlet Mall was an indoor outlet mall located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Opening in 1982 as the first outlet mall in Wisconsin, the mall was demolished in two phases from 2005 to 2006, with an Ashley HomeStore built on part of the site.

The Cecil Recreation Complex at the Cecil Commerce Center is a comprehensive recreational facility on the west side of Jacksonville, Florida. The $25 million project was part of the 2000 Better Jacksonville Plan and will eventually include 1,500 acres (6.1 km2). The City of Jacksonville, Parks and Recreation department manages the facilities.

53rd Avenue Park

53rd Avenue Park is a municipal park under development in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Partially opened in 2008, the park covers 43.5 acres (17.6 ha) along northeast 53rd Avenue in the middle of the city. Currently the park includes two multi-purpose sports fields covered with artificial turf with other sports amenities and a water fountain under construction. Plans call for a large indoor recreation center at the park including pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, and exercise facilities to go along with outdoor park items that include children's play equipment and walking trails. Land for the park was purchased from exercise equipment maker Soloflex beginning in 2001.

It has approximately 6,700 employees and is headquartered in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Uline has distribution centers throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) is a multi-pool indoor and outdoor facility located in Hillsboro in the U.S. state of Oregon. Originally opened in 1954 as an outdoor at Shute Park, an indoor recreation center and pool opened in 1981. The indoor recreation center, which includes a weight room, spa, a wading pool, and classroom space, was expanded in 2006 at a cost of $9 million.

Pioneer Hall (Texas Womans University)


Pioneer Hall is a building on the campus of Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, that is the home of the TWU Pioneers basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball teams as well as numerous fitness facilities, classrooms, and offices.

Treasure Island Resort & Casino

Treasure Island Resort & Casino is a tribal gaming facility owned and operated by the Prairie Island Indian Community (PIIC) in Welch, MN – Goodhue County. It is the only casino resort in southern Minnesota located on the Mississippi River. The casino’s gaming options include slot machines; video roulette, blackjack and keno; live dealer blackjack, poker and other table games; and bingo. Additional amenities to the property include a hotel, the Island Event Center, a marina, RV-park, a cruise yacht, a 24-lane bowling center, several restaurants; and a water park and spa. Employing nearly 1,500 people, Treasure Island Resort & Casino is the largest employer in Goodhue County.

Yates Field House

Yates Field House is a recreation and intramural sports complex at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. It was built in the late 1970s largely underground, on the site of the university's football stadium, with a replacement AstroTurf field installed on top of it.
