Temescal Creek is an approximately 29-mile-long (47 km) watercourse in Riverside County, in the U.S. state of California. Flowing primarily in a northwestern direction, it connects Lake Elsinore with the Santa Ana River. It drains the eastern slopes of the Santa Ana Mountains on its left and on its right the western slopes of the Temescal Mountains along its length. With a drainage basin of about 1,000 square miles (2,600 km2), it is the largest tributary of the Santa Ana River, hydrologically connecting the 720-square-mile (1,900 km2) San Jacinto River and Lake Elsinore watersheds to the rest of the Santa Ana watershed. However, flowing through an arid rain shadow zone of the Santa Ana Mountains, and with diversion of ground water for human use, the creek today is ephemeral for most of its length, except for runoff from housing developments and agricultural return flows.
The Belmont Mountains are a 25 mi (40 km) long, arid, low elevation mountain range about 50 mi west of Phoenix, Arizona in the northern Sonoran Desert, north of the Gila River. The range is in the south of a region of two parallel washes; the Bouse Wash flows northwest to the Colorado River, and the Centennial Wash flows southeast to meet the Gila River.
The Canyon Creek Mountains are a short 10 mi (16 km) long, mountain range located in southeast Catron County, New Mexico near the source of the Gila River and north of the Gila Wilderness. The Elk Mountains are adjacent northwest, where the continental divide passes from north to east on the south of the Plains of San Agustin.
The Elsinore Mountains are a ridge of mountains within the larger range of the Santa Ana Mountains, in the Cleveland National Forest, Riverside County, California, United States. the tallest peaks within the range is the unofficially named San Mateo Peak at 3,591 ft (1,095 m). Second is officially named Elsinore Peak at 3,536 ft (1,078 m). The Elsinore Mountanins run in a ridge from just east of El Cariso, southeast to Elsinore Peak. Beyond that peak the ridge begins to descend and curves to the east. From Elsinore Peak, a ridge runs to the west and then northwest to San Mateo Peak, enclosing the Morrell Potrero on the south and west.
Los Alamos Canyon Creek, a stream or arroyo, tributary to San Mateo Creek, in the Cleveland National Forest in Riverside County, California. Its source is at an altitude of 2300 feet, in a canyon on the south face of the ridge of Elsinore Mountains that descends to the southeast from Elsinore Peak. The creek descends southward for a short distance then turns southwest for 4 miles where it turns west for 3 miles down Los Alamos Canyon to its confluence with San Mateo Creek at an elevation of 1312 feet.
Temescal Mountains, formerly the Sierra Temescal, are one of the northernmost mountain ranges of the Peninsular Ranges in western Riverside County, in Southern California in the United States. They extend for approximately 25 mi (40 km) southeast of the Santa Ana River east of the Elsinore Fault Zone to the Temecula Basin and form the western edge of the Perris Block.
The Perris Block is the central block of three major fault-bounded blocks of the northern part of the Peninsular Ranges. The Perris Block lies between the Santa Ana Block to the west and the San Jacinto Block to the east. The Perris Block, was named by Walter A. English in 1925 for the city of Perris, located near the center of the block.
La Sierra Heights, La Sierra Hills, and Norco Hills are informal names for the northernmost section of the range known as the Temescal Mountains, located in northwestern Riverside County, California. The section begins on the south bank of the Santa Ana River and extends southward between the valleys occupied by the City of Riverside to the east and the Cities of Norco and Corona to the west. A gap or portezuela connects these valleys and separates this range from Arlington Mountain and the balance of the range to the south.
North Hill is the most northeasterly of the range of hills running in that direction from Mount Rubidoux, located within the city of Riverside, north of the city center and southeast of Lake Evans. It has an elevation of 1084 feet. This range of hills bordering the Santa Ana River and the Riverside Valley is the northernmost of several within the Temescal Mountains.
Pigeon Pass Valley, is a valley in Riverside County, California. Its mouth lies at an elevation of 1696 feet / 517 meters above Poorman Reservoir. Its head lies on the south slope of the northwest extreme of the ridge of Reche Summit mountain at 33°59′53″N117°16′09″W, northeast of Pigeon Pass.
Pachappa Hill is a summit in the Temescal Mountains within the city of Riverside in Riverside County, California. It is a hill that rises to an elevation of 1,175 feet / 358 meters.
Eagle Valley is a basin in the Temescal Mountains, of Riverside County, California. It has a elevation of 1,283 feet / 391 meters. The basin is overlooked by summits of the Temescal Mountains on the west, north and east, the tallest is 1,857 foot Arlington Mountain on the northeast. The valley is drained by three streams, the primary one, has its source on the south slope of Arlington Mountain and drains southwestward into Cajalco Canyon and Cajalco Canyon Creek.
