The Reformed Church of East Africa was founded in 1944 when the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa started mission work in Eldoret Kenya. This work was overtaken by the missionaries came from the Netherlands Reformed Church. The church accepted the Three Forms of Unity. When the Dutch missionaries left, they left behind a Kenyan Reformed church. At the time it has more than 600 congregations and 110,000 members. The denomination has a theological seminary in Eldoret, The Reformed Institute For Theological Training (RITT). RITT offers courses in Theology. [1] The church become autonomous in 1963. There are more than 110,000 adherents. [2] The Christian Reformed Church in Eastern Africa separated in 1992. [3] It is a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. [4] It has official relationship with the Christian Reformed Church in North America. [5]

Theology

Leaders Current Moderator is Rev David Letting (since 2019). Former Moderators include Rev Joshua Biboko, Rev Hosea Chemweno, Rev Geoffrey Songok and Rev Musa Maina. The current General Secretary is Rev Dr Luka Ariko Ekitala (since 2019). Former General Secreatary include Rev Justine Malkwen Mutai, Rev Henry Cleophas Wanjala, Rev Samson Akoru and Rev Jonah Kipngetich Lagat.

The Reformed Church of Christ in Nigeria was formed in 1973 when a split occurred in the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria. It consists of people of the Kuteb tribe, through multi-ethnic ministry is being pursued in other areas. In 1979 the church was officially recognised by the Nigerian government. In 1993 the church changed its name from Church of Christ in Nigeria to the current name. Since 1973 the church is growing rapidly. The denomination has about 500,000 members in hundreds of congregation and house fellowships.

The Independent Presbyterian Church in Kenya was started in 1948 by missionaries of the Bible Presbyterian Church from the. In 1962 a split occurred in the Bible Presbyterian Church, and in Africa the missionaries divided, the minority group separated became the Africa Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Since 1964 the church became independent. In 1984 a number of parishes left and separated from the denomination and organised themselves the same name of Independent Presbyterian Church in Kenya. Membership is 2,500 in 70 congregations in 2004. The church recognises the Apostle Creed, and Westminster Confession of Faith.

The Reformed Church in Japan is a confessional Calvinist denomination in Japan. It was formerly a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, but it chose to suspend its membership.

The Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa is one of the oldest Protestant churches in Africa, established in 1833 by the Paris Evangelical Missionary Society. They received the support of the local king, and under its protection the church developed. The first mission station was in Morija. In 1868 Lesotho became a British protectorate. In 1898 a Synod was opened, while in 1964 the church gained independence.

The Belarusian Evangelical Reformed Church was officially registered in 1996 in Minsk. Reformed presence in the country dates back to the 16th century. The first Reformed church was founded in Brest-Litovsk in 1553. At the end of the 16th century more than 200 Reformed congregations were in the territory of Belarus. In 1917 a Reformed high school was opened, till the Communist regime a theological school functioned in Koidanava near Minsk. During the Communist role church activities were suppressed, and church buildings blown up. The community started in 1992 to revive the Reformed presence.
