The Church of England is the established Christian church in England and the mother church of the international Anglican Communion. It traces its history to the Christian church recorded as existing in the Roman province of Britain by the 3rd century and to the 6th-century Gregorian mission to Kent led by Augustine of Canterbury. Its adherents are called Anglicans.
The Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican,commonly known as the Second Vatican Council,or Vatican II,was the 21st ecumenical council of the Catholic Church. In 2017,the Anglican Church counted 359,030 members on parish rolls in 2,206 congregations,organized into 1,571 parishes. The 2011 Canadian census counted 1,631,845 self-identified Anglicans,making the Anglican Church the third-largest Canadian church after the Catholic Church and the United Church of Canada. The 2021 Canadian census counted more than 1 million self-identified Anglicans,remaining the third-largest Canadian church. A further revision,the 1985 Book of Alternative Services,has developed into the dominant liturgical book of the church.

John Dayal is a controversial Indian human rights and Christian political activist. He is a member of the National Integration Council (NIC) of India,Secretary-General of the All India Christian Council and a past president of the All India Catholic Union. He has been outspoken in opposition to communal polarisation,bigotry and the spread of hatred between religious communities.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) is the permanent association of the Catholic bishops of India. It was established in September 1944,in Chennai. The CBCI Secretariat was located in Bangalore until 1962,when it was shifted to the national capital,New Delhi. The CBCI is a member of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences.

George Alencherry is the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and also a cardinal of the Catholic Church. The All India Catholic Union (AICU) represents almost 16 million Catholics in India:followers of the Latin Rite,the Syro-Malabar Catholics and the Syro-Malankara Catholics. It has 120 diocese and district units. The AICU was established in 1930.

The Fourteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops,popularly referred to as the Synod on the Family,took place from 4 to 25 October 2015 with the theme of "the vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world." It was "reflect[ing] further on the points discussed" at the 2014 Third Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops "so as to formulate appropriate pastoral guidelines" for the pastoral care of the person and the family. The 2014 assembly of the synod,called to define the status quaestionis and to collect the participants' experiences and proposals,can be understood as a preparation for the 2015 assembly,but they are meant to "form a single organic unity." It took place in the Synod Hall in the Paul VI Audience Hall in Vatican City.
