RenéTas,is a vice admiral of the Dutch Navy,he is the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy after replacing vice admiral Rob A. Kramer from 9 September 2021. He is also the Admiral Benelux (ABNL) which is the Commanding Officer of the combined military staff of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Naval Component of the Belgian Armed Forces. [1]
The Netherlands Armed Forces are the military services of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Military William Order,or often named Military Order of William,is the oldest and highest honour of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is named after St. William of Gellone (755–814),the first Prince of Orange. Its motto is Voor Moed,Beleid en Trouw. The chivalric order was established on 30 April 1815 by King William I and was presented for feats of excellent bravery on the battlefield and as a meritorious decoration to senior military officers. The Royal Netherlands Army is the land branch of the Netherlands Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defence is the Dutch Ministry responsible for the armed forces of the Netherlands and Veterans Affairs. The Ministry was created in 1813 as the "Ministry of War" and in 1928 was combined with the "Ministry of the Navy". After World War II in the ministries were separated again,in this period the Minister of War and Minister of the Navy were often the same person and the State secretary for the Navy was responsible for daily affairs of the Royal Dutch Navy. In 1959 the ministries were merged. HNLMS Mercuur (A900) is a submarine support ship of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The ship was built and designed specially to support the Dutch submarines. She entered service on 21 August 1987,and is the only surface vessel attached to the Dutch submarine service.
HNLMS Holland is the first ship of the Holland-class offshore patrol vessels of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The ship was originally designed to fulfill patrol and intervention tasks against lightly armed opponents,such as pirates and smugglers. However,it also has very advanced electronic and radar surveillance capabilities which are used for military stabilization and security roles,short of outright war. Without sonar or long range weapons,it utilizes the surveillance capabilities of the Thales integrated mast,which integrates communication systems and two 4-faced phased arrays for air and surface search.
HNLMS Den Helder is a new replenishment oiler under construction for the Royal Netherlands Navy. Also known as the Combat Support Ship (CSS),Den Helder is planned to fill the gap of replenishment at sea that was left after HNLMS Amsterdam was sold to Peru in 2014.
Onno Eichelsheim is a general in the Royal Netherlands Air Force serving as Chief of Defence of the Netherlands Armed Forces since 15 April 2021. Prior to his post,he served as the Vice Chief of Defence from 1 July 2019 to 8 March 2021.
Vice Admiral Rob A. Kramer was the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy from 22 September 2017. Rear Admiral RenéTas replace him after his retirement on 9 September 2021.
