Rescue is a computer game published by Mastertronic in 1987 for the ZX Spectrum. It was written by Ste Cork with music by Tiny Williams and graphics by Mark O'Neill. [1]

Gameplay

The purpose of the game is to rescue the correct scientist and the "ultimate experiment". The player must then guide the scientists back to their spacecraft and refuel it before escaping.

The game generates the same maze layout each time it is played, however it randomises which scientist and which secret experiment (represented by a red test tube) is the correct one.

Enemies are spawned randomly and go around destroying the scientists, experiments, fuel and ammo caches, sometimes making it to your spaceship and destroying items you had already recovered.

Reception

In a 1987 review, Your Sinclair described the game as "nice graphics, easy to play but impossible to complete!" and awarded it 7 out of 10. [2]

Rescue was placed at number 44 in the Your Sinclair Official Top 100, compiled by videogame journalist Stuart Campbell in the early 1990s. [3]

After Burner is a rail shooter arcade video game developed and released by Sega in 1987. The player controls an American F-14 Tomcat fighter jet and must clear each of the game's eighteen unique stages by destroying incoming enemies. Jetpac is a shooter video game developed and published by Ultimate Play the Game and released for the ZX Spectrum and VIC-20 in 1983 and the BBC Micro in 1984. It is the first game to be released by Ultimate Play the Game, the company which later became Rare. The game follows Jetman as he must rebuild his rocket in order to explore different planets, while simultaneously defending against hostile aliens. It was written by Ultimate co-founder Chris Stamper with graphics designed by his brother, Tim Stamper. Reviewers praised Jetpac's presentation and gameplay, and it won "Game of the Year" at the Golden Joystick Awards in 1983.

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is the name of several video games based on the 1988 Michael Jackson film Moonwalker. Sega developed two beat 'em ups, released in 1990; one released in arcades and another released for the Sega Genesis and Master System consoles. U.S. Gold also published various games for home computers the same year.
