In Nigeria, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) is a title given to a person in charge of the Independent National Electoral Commission at the state level. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, assisted by relevant government agencies, undertakes the Presidential, National Assembly, Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in a state. The Resident Electoral Commissioner acts pursuant to powers delegated to him or her by INEC's national Chairman and 12 Commissioners. Among the duties of the REC is to make available all the materials required to conduct an election. The REC also monitors the activities of all ad hoc staff and provides for proper verification of election results. [1] [2]

2015 Nigerian general election

General elections were held in Nigeria on 28 and 29 March 2015, the fifth quadrennial election to be held since the end of military rule in 1999. Voters elected the President and members to the House of Representatives and the Senate. The incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan sought his second and final term.

Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar

Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar is the former governor of Bauchi State, Nigeria. He is popularly known as Makama Baba and Garzali. He began his career in the Civil Service where he rose through the ranks to become the Bauchi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He ran for public office as Governor of Bauchi State in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the state's opposition party. He won the election, defeating the incumbent party's candidate by over 370,000 votes. He began his tenure as the governor of Bauchi on 29 August 2016, succeeding Isa Yuguda.

The INEC Abia State Office is a branch of the Independent National Electoral Commission that coordinates, supervises and organizes political elections in Abia State. On August 2, 2015, some parts of the office which is headquartered at Obingwa local government was burnt down by political thugs during the 2015 Nigerian general election. The INEC Abia State Office is headed by a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), currently Sylvester Ezeani.

The 2015 Kogi Gubernatorial election was held on 21 November 2015 to elect a governor for Kogi State. The last Kogi state gubernatorial election was held in 2011. The incumbent governor, Captain Idris Wada, ran for re-election against the former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Kogi State has a different governorship election calendar from other states of the Nigerian Federation. This happened in 2007, when the Appeal Court affirmed annulment of the election of the incumbent, Ibrahim Idris for electoral irregularities and ordered a fresh election in a case filed by Abubakar Audu.

Uche Ekwunife

Uche Lilian Ekwunife, is a Nigerian Politician and member of the 9th Nigerian Senate representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State and she is one of the most active female senators in the House.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party in Nigeria. The party was originally named "Alliance for Democratic Change" when it was formed in 2005, but renamed the African Democratic Congress by the time the party was registered with the Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The goal of this name change was for the party to be able "to effectively encompass and reflect the aspirations of our people." The ADC headquarters is located in Abuja, Nigeria, but there are plans for the office to relocate in 2019. The party constitution states that the goal of the party is to create a grass root organization, of and for Nigerians. For the selection of their candidates for the 2019 Nigerian general election, the ADC used the Direct Primary method in which all registered party members participated in the nomination of candidates that would run on the platform of the party at general elections. On 24 September 2018, the African Democratic Congress selected senator Abdulaziz Nyako as the candidate for the 2019 Nigerian general elections.

Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi is a Nigerian politician. He is the senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate. He is a senator of the 8th and 9th National Assembly. He was sacked shorty after being announced senator elect during the 2019 general elections by a Federal High Court in Abuja as Senator-elect on allegations that he was not validly elected by his political party. The Appeal Court in Abuja however upturned the decision on 30 May 2019. The lead judge held that the Federal High Court that nullified his election had no jurisdiction over the case.

Muhammad Kudu Haruna is a Nigeria journalist, political columnist, administrator and Resident Electoral Commissioner of the INEC since 2015. He is among the six members appointed as INEC commissioner, he is committing the Kwara, Kogi and Kaduna State. He assumed office in September 2016.
