Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar is the former governor of Bauchi State, Nigeria. He is popularly known as Makama Baba and Garzali. He began his career in the Civil Service where he rose through the ranks to become the Bauchi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He ran for public office as Governor of Bauchi State in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the state's opposition party. The 2015 Kogi Gubernatorial election was held on 21 November 2015 to elect a governor for Kogi State. The last Kogi state gubernatorial election was held in 2011. The incumbent governor, Captain Idris Wada, ran for re-election against the former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Kogi State has a different governorship election calendar from other states of the Nigerian Federation. This happened in 2007, when the Appeal Court affirmed annulment of the election of the incumbent, Ibrahim Idris for electoral irregularities and ordered a fresh election in a case filed by Abubakar Audu.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party in Nigeria. The party was originally named "Alliance for Democratic Change" when it was formed in 2005, but renamed the African Democratic Congress by the time the party was registered with the Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The goal of this name change was for the party to be able "to effectively encompass and reflect the aspirations of our people." The ADC headquarters is located in Abuja, Nigeria, but there are plans for the office to relocate in 2019. The party constitution states that the goal of the party is to create a grass root organization, of and for Nigerians. For the selection of their candidates for the 2019 Nigerian general election, the ADC used the Direct Primary method in which all registered party members participated in the nomination of candidates that would run on the platform of the party at general elections. On 24 September 2018, the African Democratic Congress selected senator Abdulaziz Nyako as the candidate for the 2019 Nigerian general elections.
Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi is a Nigerian politician. He is the senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate. He is a senator of the 8th and 9th National Assembly. He was sacked shorty after being announced senator elect during the 2019 general elections by a Federal High Court in Abuja as Senator-elect on allegations that he was not validly elected by his political party. The Appeal Court in Abuja however upturned the decision on 30 May 2019. The lead judge held that the Federal High Court that nullified his election had no jurisdiction over the case.
Muhammad Kudu Haruna is a Nigeria journalist, political columnist, administrator and Resident Electoral Commissioner of the INEC since 2015. He is among the six members appointed as INEC commissioner, he is committing the Kwara, Kogi and Kaduna State. He assumed office in September 2016.
