The OTI Festival 1979 is the eighth edition of the OTI Festival which was held in Caracas, Venezuela in December 8 in the National Theatre of the Military Academy. The festival was hosted by the Telenovela actor Eduardo Serrano and the beauty pageant contestant Carmen Victoria Pérez. In this edition in which the number of participating countries rose again to 21, Argentina won for the very first time the festival with the performer Daniel Ríolobos and his song "Cuenta conmigo".
