Ricardo "Ricky" M. De Ungria is a Filipino poet. [1]
He graduated with a BA Literature, cum laude, degree from the De La Salle University and an MFA in creative writing from Washington University in St. Louis, United States in 1990 when he was awarded a Fulbright grant. [2] [3] He received writing residency fellowships at the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers in 1991 and the Bellagio Study of Conference Center in 1993. [2] [3] In 1999, he moved to Davao City to become the first dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the newly established University of the Philippines Mindanao campus. In the same year, he founded the Davao Writers Guild that eventually published the works of its members and held poetry readings in the different universities in the city; published DAGMAY, which was the first literary page in a local newspaper SunStar Davao in the island (it is now available online); and initiated the Davao Writing Workshops in 2005 that became an annual first-level training ground for young and beginning writers in the region and in the island. While serving as Chancellor of UP Mindanao, he also organized the Davao Colleges and Universities Network (DACUN) in 2001 and the Mindanao Studies Consortium Foundation, Inc. in 2003, both being a consortium of universities in the Davao region (DACUN) and in Mindanao (MSCFI). He also organized in 2004 the Mindanao Science and Technology Park Consortium Foundation, Inc. that was a consortium of academic institutions and government agencies in the Mintal area of the city. He continues to be a fellow of the University of the Philippines Institute of Creative Writing in UP Diliman. [2] He has served as a panelist in various writing workshops, notably the UP Diliman, Silliman University, Davao Writers Guild, and the Ateneo de Davao Writers workshops. [4] He was also the head of the Committee on Literary Arts at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) where he became a Commissioner for the Arts in 2007-2010 and served as Festival Director of three Philippine International Arts Festivals held in February. [3]
He is a founding member of Philippine Literary Arts Council (PLAC), [3] and a member of the Unyon ng mga Manunulat ng Pilipinas (UMPIL), [3] and Davao Writers Guild. For his achievements in literature and writing, he was awarded the Gawad Balagtas by the UMPIL in 1999 and the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan (Literature) by the City of Manila in 2007. He was also UP Artist 1 from 2009 to 2011 and 2012 to the present time and the recipient of seven National Book Awards.
He teaches creative writing and literature in the Humanities Department of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of U.P. Mindanao.

Francisco "Franz" Arcellana was a Filipino writer, poet, essayist, critic, journalist and teacher.
Bienvenido L. Lumbera was a Filipino poet, critic and dramatist. Lumbera is known for his nationalist writing and for his leading role in the Filipinization movement in Philippine literature in the 1960s, which resulted in his being one of the many writers and academics jailed during Ferdinand Marcos' Martial Law regime. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature and Creative Communications in 1993, and was proclaimed a National Artist of the Philippines for literature in 2006. As an academic, he is recognized for his key role in elevating the field of study which would become known as Philippine Studies.
J. Neil Carmelo Garcia earned his AB Journalism, magna cum laude, from the University of Santo Tomas in 1990; MA in Comparative Literature in 1995, and PhD in English Studies: Creative Writing in 2003 from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is a Professor of English, creative writing and comparative literature at the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman, where he also serves as an Associate for Poetry at the Likhaan: U.P. Institute of Creative Writing.

She is currently Professor Emeritus of English & Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines Diliman and Director of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies.

César Ruiz Aquino is a Filipino poet and novelist. He was born and raised in Zamboanga, Philippines. He was educated at Silliman University, at UP Diliman, at the Ateneo de Manila on Padre Faura, and at AE. His writing career began when Philippine Graphic published his story 'Noon and Summer' written in 1961. At age 19, he received an invitation to - and a virtual writing fellowship at - the first, 1962, Silliman National Writers Summer Workshop in Dumaguete that included as fellows Wilfrido D. Nolledo, Jose Lansang Jr. and Wilfredo Pascua Sanchez - as well as mentors Nick Joaquin, Franz Arcellana and Edilberto Tiempo and Edith Tiempo.
The University of the Philippines Mindanao is a public research university, serving as the sixth constituent unit of the University of the Philippines System. UP Mindanao is the only constituent university of the UP System that was created through legislative action. Republic Act 7889 formally created UP Mindanao on February 20, 1995. The university was later formally recognized as an independent constituent university by the Board of Regents of the UP System on March 23, 1995. Its main focus of education is Mindanao studies through an affirmative action program in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to attract Muslims and Lumad students, aside from the marginalized and deserving students. The university was first named University of the Philippines in Mindanao to declare the arrival of the state university in Mindanao after a long period of waiting by eager alumni and students. This was later replaced to its present name due to the request of the UP System for formalities' sake.

Dominador “Dom” Ibarra Ilio was a poet and professor born in Malinao, Capiz. He is considered a pioneer of Philippine literature in English as a recognized poet and author both in the Philippines and in the United States. He was an engineer by profession.
