Richard Cambridge is a film actor and producer, known for feature film Gran Turismo , [2] [3] Golden Years (2016), Hollyoaks (1995 TV series) [4] [5] and The IT Crowd (2006).

Biography

Cambridge was born in Wiltshire UK. [6] His parents divorced when he was young and he grew up with his father and two younger siblings. He was a company member of the Musical Youth Theatre Company with alumni including Andrew Lincoln, Indira Varma, Will Thorp, Jennifer Biddall, Adam Campbell, Tabitha Wady, Ella Smith, and Tom Payne.

Richard's first leading role was in the feature film Distant Bridges, playing Arthur Fisher, a young boy sent to fight in the first world war. [7]

This was followed by a leading role in a short film Fishmonger's Daughter which was official selection at the Sundance Film Festival). [8]

He has appeared in many commercials including a US commercial for Butterfinger candy bars and also appeared in Miburn's music video for "What Will You Do (When the Money Goes)?" in 2007. [4]

In 2019, he played an agent in a TV ad for Zovirax. [9]

In 2023 he played the role of 'Felix' in Sony Pictures blockbuster Gran Turismo. The cinema release date of August 2023 was announced in May 2023. [2] [3]

Alongside being an actor, Richard is CTO of actors community WeAudition. [10] Founded in 2015, Richard with actor partners Jessica Rose and Darren Darnborough founded Weaudition.com, a network for actors looking for scene readers, to help actors learn lines from a script. [11]

Richard is a keen supporter of mental health.

Career

As an actor Richard is known for playing the role of Pete Webster in Hollyoaks and his role in The IT Crowd. [12]

Richard has appeared in feature films including Sony's Gran Turismo, [13] Golden Years, [14] as well as Forest of the Damned, [15] (renamed Demonic for release in the USA), Idol of Evil alongside Adrian Bouchet, [16] Cal, [17] and Boogie Man. [18]

Produced by Columbia Pictures, PlayStation Productions, and 2.0 Entertainment, it is based on the racing simulation video game series of the same name developed by Polyphony Digital. It tells the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenage Gran Turismo player who became a professional racing car driver. The film stars Archie Madekwe as Mardenborough alongside David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, Emelia Hartford, Geri Halliwell Horner, Djimon Hounsou and Josha Stradowski.
