Richard Felix (born 23 February 1949) is an English paranormal investigator from Stanley, Derbyshire most noted for his appearances on Living TV's Most Haunted series.

Biography

Felix was born on 23 February 1949 in Derby. [1] The son of record dealers, he left school at the age of 15. [1] At 19 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer but recovered from the disease. [1]

Felix was a Captain in the Territorial Army with the 3rd Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, the President of Derby Chamber of Trade, the chairman of the Derby Tourism Association and President of the Edward Stuart Society. [1] He has stated that his life's goal is to definitely discover what ghosts are. [1]

Work

From the mid-1960s until 1980 Felix ran a record stall in Derby's Guildhall Market. Since 1981 Felix has been delivering ghost tours around Derby every Halloween. [2] He also campaigned during this time to set up an exhibition centre in Queen Street, Derby, at the old clockworks. [3] [4] Felix is quoted as saying that there is "barely a corner [of Derby] which shouldn't have a blue plaque on it." [4] He hopes to use the now abandoned warehouse as an exhibition of Derby's past, both paranormal and otherwise. [4]

In 2011 Felix toured the country with Glasgow's medium Chris Conway in the Psychic & Science show. [5] [6]

Felix appeared on Come Dine with Me in August 2014, with his wife Julia, finishing second in a competition against two other Derby-area couples.

He is also the star and co-producer of the cable television reality series, Ghost Hunters. He left the show in 2014 and returned for the 2019 revival.

Jason Hawes American paranormal investigator

Jason Conrad Hawes is an American plumber and the co-founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), which is based in Warwick, Rhode Island. He is also one of the stars and co-producers of Syfy's Ghost Hunters, which ended after its eleventh season on October 26, 2016, but was later renewed for a 12th season by A&E with new episodes premiering in August 2019. TAPS co-founder and former lead investigator Grant Wilson leads a new team. Hawes, though absent from the revival of Ghost Hunters, leads his own show with Ghost Hunters alumni Dave Tango and Steve Gonsalves in Ghost Nation, which has been airing on the Travel Channel since October 2019.

Paranormal television is a genre of reality television. Its scope comprises purportedly factual investigations of paranormal phenomena, rather than fictional representations found in such shows and films as The Ghosts of Motley Hall, Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo and Rentaghost.

The Ohio State Reformatory (OSR), also known as the Mansfield Reformatory, is a historic prison located in Mansfield, Ohio in the United States. It was built between 1886 and 1910 and remained in operation until 1990, when a United States Federal Court ruling ordered the facility to be closed. While this facility was used in a number of films, TV shows and music videos, it was made famous by the film The Shawshank Redemption (1994) when it was used for the majority of the movie. The Ohio State Reformatory is currently open to tourists 7 days a week from 11am to 4pm on April 1 to September 2. They also have winter tours on weekends from February 2 to March 31 and holiday tours on weekends from November 23 to December 23.

Ghost hunting is the process of investigating locations that are reported to be haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost-hunting team will attempt to collect evidence supporting the existence of paranormal activity. Ghost hunters use a variety of electronic devices, including EMF meters, digital thermometers, both handheld and static digital video cameras, including thermographic and night vision cameras, as well as digital audio recorders. Other more traditional techniques are also used, such as conducting interviews and researching the history of allegedly haunted sites. Ghost hunters may also refer to themselves as "paranormal investigators."

The Antiques Ghost Show was a 'reality' show commissioned in 2003 by Living TV. Members of the public would bring self-proclaimed psychic Derek Acorah their antiques. After Acorah has made claims about the history of the item, using a method he calls psychometry, Christopher Gower and a genealogist are given 48 hours to verify the assertions. When analysing the history of an antique, Acorah will often act out events he believes has happened.
