Richard Nchabi Kamwi (born 3 June 1950 in Ioma,Zambezi Region) is a Namibian medical physician and politician. [1] A member of the National Assembly with the South West Africa People's Organization since 1999,Kamwi was the Minister of Health and Social Services from March 2005 to 2015. [2]
After graduating from the Technikon Mmadikoti in Pietersburg,South Africa in 1980,Kamwi became the first black health inspector in Katima Mulilo. After being relieved of his position in 1984,and subsequently arrested for political subversion in 1985,Kamwi went into exile in Botswana. He served in the People's Liberation Army of Namibia until repatriation in 1989.
Kamwi resumed his position of health inspector until joining the National Assembly in 1999. In 2000,President Sam Nujoma appointed him to the post of deputy Minister of Health and Social Services under Libertine Amathila. Upon the promotion of minister Amathila to the post of deputy Prime Minister along with the election of president Hifikepunye Pohamba,Kamwi was promoted to minister. He served until 2015,and then took up farming on farm Rimini in the Otavi-Tsumeb-Grootfontein triangle. [3]
Kamwiwas awarded awarded The Most Brilliant Order of the Sun second-class for his distinguished service above the call of duty,in August 2024 by President Nangolo Mbumba. [4]

The South West Africa People's Organisation,officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia,is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Founded in 1960,it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group.
Hidipo Livius Hamutenya was a Namibian politician. Veteran politician Hidipo Hamutenya died at 77 after a short illness. A long-time leading member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Hamutenya was a member of the Cabinet of Namibia from independence in 1990 to 2004,serving in several important ministerial portfolios. He was defeated in a bid for the party's presidential nomination in 2004 and left SWAPO to form an opposition group,the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP),in 2007. He was elected to the National Assembly of Namibia with RDP in the 2009 general election. He was forced to step down as RDP president on 28 February 2015 and rejoined SWAPO on 28 August 2015.

Hage Gottfried Geingob was a Namibian politician who served as the third president of Namibia and Commander-in-Chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) from 2015 until his death in February 2024. Geingob was the first Prime Minister of Namibia from 1990 to 2002,and served as prime minister again from 2012 to 2015. Between 2008 and 2012 Geingob served as Minister of Trade and Industry. In November 2014,Geingob was elected president of Namibia by an overwhelming margin. In November 2017,Geingob became the third president of the ruling SWAPO Party after winning by a large margin at the party's sixth Congress. He served as the party's president until his death. In August 2018,Geingob began a one-year term as chairperson of the Southern African Development Community.
Libertina Inaviposa Amathila is a Namibian physician and politician. She was the Deputy-Prime Minister of Namibia from March 2005 to March 2010.
Nangolo Mbumba is a Namibian politician who is the fourth and current president of Namibia. He became president after the death of Hage Geingob,under whom he had served as the second Vice-president of Namibia from 2018 to 2024.
Albert Kawana is a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,Kawana has been a member of the National Assembly and cabinet since 2000,serving in various positions. Since April 2021 he has been minister of Home Affairs,Immigration,Safety and Security. Loide Lucky Shoopala Kasingo is a Namibian politician and prominent trade unionist. A member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Kasingo has been a member of the National Assembly of Namibia since 1996 and was a deputy minister from 1996 to 2005. She has also served as Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since December 2012. From March 2010 to December 2012,she was Minister of Environment and Tourism. Nandi-Ndaitwah is a member of SWAPO,Namibia's ruling party,and a long-time member of the National Assembly. In 2017,Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.
