Richard Bruce Reid (born 3 December 1958) is a former New Zealand international cricketer,who played nine One Day Internationals between 1988 and 1991. His father,John Reid,played Test cricket for New Zealand from 1949 to 1965. [1]
Reid was born in Lower Hutt,Wellington. He attended Scots College,Wellington,where he captained the first XI. [2] He had two moderately successful seasons with the Wellington cricket team before going to Johannesburg,where his parents were living. [3]
Reid taught physical education and mathematics at St John's College in Johannesburg and played one first-class cricket match for Transvaal B. Later he worked for Nike in South Africa. In the mid-1980s,after visiting the New Zealand cricketers who were touring Zimbabwe in October 1984,he decided to return to New Zealand and resume his cricket career. [3]
Reid settled in Auckland in 1985 and played with some success for the Auckland cricket team. He acted as liaison officer with the touring Australian team in 1986. [3] He married Debbie Kittow in April 1989. [3]
In 1990 Reid returned to Wellington to work as a sales representative for Nike New Zealand. [3] Opening the batting in one-day matches for Wellington,he was the highest scorer in the 1990–91 Shell Cup competition,with 348 runs at an average of 69.60 and a scoring rate of 109.77 runs per 100 balls faced. [4] He was included in the New Zealand team for the World Series in Australia that season,and was New Zealand's top-scorer in the second final with 64. [5] A few days later he was the top-scorer on either side with 47 from 44 balls when Wellington won the final of the Shell Cup. [6]
Reid's form fell away after that season and he played no more international cricket. His last season of domestic cricket was 1991–92. [3]
Reid worked as chief executive officer of Nike New Zealand until 2001,when he began a career in cricket and rugby administration. [7]
The New Zealand men's national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Named the Black Caps,they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch,becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. From 1930 New Zealand had to wait until 1956,more than 26 years,for its first Test victory,against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972–73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch. New Zealand are the inaugural champions of World Test Championship which they won in 2021 and they have also won ICC KnockOut Trophy in 2000. They have played World cup Finals twice and T20 world cup final once.
Martin David Crowe was a New Zealand cricketer,Test and ODI captain as well as a commentator. He played for the New Zealand national cricket team between 1982 and 1995,and is regarded as one of the country's greatest batsmen.

Damien Richard Martyn is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer,who played Tests and ODIs. He played for the national team sporadically in 1992–1994 before becoming a regular ODI player from 1999 to 2000 and a regular Test player in 2000 until his retirement in late 2006. He was primarily a right-handed middle-order batsman with a 'classical' technique,known in particular for his elegant strokemaking square of the wicket on the off-side and through the covers. Martyn was a member of the Australian team that won three consecutive world titles in a row:the 1999 Cricket World Cup,the 2003 Cricket World Cup,and the 2007 Cricket World Cup,as well as being a member of the team that won the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.
Nathan John Astle is a former New Zealand cricketer,who played all formats of the game. A right-handed batsman who played as an opener in One Day Internationals (ODI),while batting in the middle order in Test matches. In a career that spanned 12 years,Astle played 81 Tests and 223 ODIs accumulating 4,702 and 7,090 runs respectively. As of 2022,he is New Zealand's fourth-most prolific run scorer. Astle collected 154 wickets with his medium-paced bowling at the international level. He holds two records –scoring the fastest double century in Test cricket and the second highest individual score in the fourth innings of a Test match. Both the records were achieved when he made 222 against England in Christchurch in 2002. Astle was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy. His innings of 145 not out is the highest individual score by a batsman in the ICC Champions Trophy,which he scored in the 2004 tournament.
Walter Mervyn Wallace was a New Zealand cricketer and former Test match captain.
John William Guy is a former New Zealand cricketer who played 12 Tests for the national team between 1955 and 1961. He currently resides in Melbourne,Australia.
Bruce Alexander Grenfell Murray was a Test cricketer for New Zealand who played 13 Tests as a right-handed opening batsman between 1968 and 1971. John Thomas Ward was a New Zealand cricketer who played as a wicket-keeper in eight Test matches between 1964 and 1968. Ward's Test captain John Reid said that he was "easily the best wicketkeeper in New Zealand in his time,but was plagued by injury."
Paul Ernest McEwan is a former New Zealand Test and ODI cricketer who played in four Tests and seventeen ODIs from 1980 to 1985. He played domestic cricket for Canterbury from 1977 to 1991. In the early 1990s,he set up the Canterbury Neonatal Unit Trust.
Timothy Grant Southee,is a New Zealand international cricketer who plays for New Zealand cricket team in all formats of the game,captain in Tests and vice captain in T20Is. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a hard-hitting lower order batsman. The third New Zealand bowler to take 300 Test wickets,he was one of the country's youngest cricketers,debuting at the age of 19 in February 2008. On his Test debut against England he took 5 wickets and made 77 off 40 balls in the second innings. He plays for Northern Districts in the Plunket Shield,Ford Trophy and Super Smash as well as Northland in the Hawke Cup. He was named as New Zealand's captain for the first T20I against West Indies in place of Kane Williamson,who was rested for that game. The Blackcaps won that match by 47 runs. Southee was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship.
Sophie Frances Monique Devine is a New Zealand sportswoman,who has represented New Zealand in both cricket for the New Zealand national women's cricket team,and in field hockey as a member of the New Zealand women's national field hockey team. She has since focused on cricket. She is known for not wearing a helmet when batting,a rarity in 21st century cricket. In December 2017,she was named as one of the players in the ICC Women's T20I Team of the Year.

Mark Sinclair Chapman is a Hong Kong-born New Zealand international cricketer who has played limited over internationals for Hong Kong and New Zealand. Currently playing for New Zealand,Chapman is a left-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He made his One Day International debut for Hong Kong against the United Arab Emirates in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on 16 November 2015.
