In Canada, specifically Quebec, he's known for numerous leading roles he's played in film. Maka Kotto is a Cameroonian-born Canadian politician. Educated in France, Kotto immigrated to Quebec, Canada, where he was an educator before entering politics. Kotto was a Parti Québécois member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Bourget. From 2012 to 2014, he served as the Minister of Culture and Communications. A former member of the House of Commons of Canada for the Bloc Québécois, Kotto is also a published author and has appeared in films.

How to Make Love to a Negro Without Getting Tired is a 1989 French-language Canadian drama film directed by Jacques W. Benoit, starring Isaach de Bankolé and Maka Kotto, and written by Haitian author Dany Laferrière based on his novel of the same name. The film was released in the US on 8 June 1990. The New York Times, the Toronto Star, the Toronto Sun and The Boston Globe all refused to publish advertisements for the film, while The Washington Post did. The film was controversial upon its initial release because of its title and was boycotted by the NAACP.

The box set includes 15 albums remastered from the original records. CD digipacks are presented in their original sleeve with lyrics. The box set also includes an illustrated booklet with various pictures, a biography, and Brel's citations and testimonies. Also included are five never before released songs from the recording sessions of the album Les Marquises. Included with the booklet is a bonus CD containing 28 titles: 26 songs from Radio Hasselt recorded 14 and 21 August 1953, a recording from the Brel family's private collection, and a 1962 recording from the Dutch television show AVRO. The box set is also available in an alternate velvet box format with CDs in crystal cases.

The son of prominent Quebec social activists Michel Chartrand and Simonne Monet-Chartrand, he was most noted for several film and television works about his parents, including the theatrical documentary films A Man of His Word and My Life Is a River , and the television miniseries Chartrand et Simonne.
