Built in the 1890s, the original Richmond Town Hall was in the Venetian Gothic Revival style, consisting of polychrome brickwork and a large tower. In the 1930s, the façade was remodelled in the Interwar Academic Classical Revival style, with Art Deco decorations, to become the Richmond City Hall. [1]
The Town Hall was refurbished in 1991, but some sections of the rear of the building, and some interior spaces, retain the original Victorian era detailing. [1] After the amalgamation of the City of Richmond with the City of Collingwood and the City of Fitzroy in 1994, to form the new City of Yarra, the Town Hall became the corporate headquarters for the new Yarra City Council. St Kilda Town Hall is a grand, classically styled city hall, located on the corner of Brighton Road and Carlisle Street in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia. The first stage, never completed, was built as the municipal offices and public hall for the former City of St Kilda in 1890. Many additions, internal alterations, and changes in appearance were made in the early and mid 20th century, while serving as the municipal and social heart of St Kilda. A devastating fire in 1991 seriously affected the art collection and burnt out the hall itself, and was followed by a prize winning refurbishment and further extension. After Council amalgamations in 1994, it became the base for the larger City of Port Phillip, and further extensions and renovations have occurred. The hall within remains popular for numerous social events, meetings and performances, a role it has served for over 120 years.

The Hawthorn Arts Centre is a former civic building located in Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Designed by architect John Beswicke in the Second Empire style, the hall was built from 1888 to 1890 and housed the council chambers for the City of Hawthorn. After the City of Hawthorn was dissolved in 1994 and absorbed into the newly created City of Boroondara, the building was used as a library, museum and gallery space. A $17.9 million redevelopment was commenced in April 2012 to convert the former town hall into a regional arts space. The hall was renamed to the Hawthorn Arts Centre and officially opened in November 2013.
