Boone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2010 census, the population was 118,811, making it the fourth-most populous county in Kentucky. Its county seat is Burlington. The county was formed in 1798 from part of Campbell County. and was named for frontiersman Daniel Boone.

Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union. Kentucky is the 37th most extensive and the 26th most populous of the 50 United States.

History

A post office called Richwood was established in 1859, and remained in operation until 1918. [2] The community may have the name of the local Rich family. [3]
