Jet are an Australian rock band formed in 2001. Founding mainstays are brothers Nic and Chris Cester together with Cameron Muncey. They were joined in the following year by Mark Wilson. The quartet released three studio albums Get Born (2003), Shine On (2006) and Shaka Rock (2009) before disbanding in 2012. Get Born is their highest charting work, which peaked at number one in Australia, top 20 in the United Kingdom and top 30 in the United States. Its lead single "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (2003) reached the top 20 in Australia and UK and top 30 in the US. Both Shine On and Shaka Rock are Australian top five albums, while their other top 20 singles are "Look What You've Done" (2004), "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" (2006) and "She's a Genius" (2009).

In 2005, he married his girlfriend Emma; the couple has two daughters and are co-owners of a recording facility, Red Door Sounds. In 2011, the Cheney family relocated to Los Angeles.
Mark Andrew Wilson is an Australian musician, originally from Geelong. From 2002 to 2012, and since their 2017 comeback, he has played bass guitar for the Melbourne-based rock band, Jet. He was asked to join them by three founding members, Nic Cester, Chris Cester and Cameron Muncey, but initially refused out of loyalty to his then-current group, The CA$inos. Days later he rang up Muncey and the Cesters and agreed to join their group instead.

The event was organised by Michael Gudinski, Michael Chugg, Amanda Pelman, Joe Segreto & Tom Lang of IMC/Homebake Festival and Mark Pope to raise funds for those affected by the February 2009 Victorian bushfires.

The 2023 ARIA Music Awards are the 37th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards and consist of a series of awards, including the 2023 ARIA Awards, ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and ARIA Hall of Fame. The ARIA Awards ceremony occurred on 15 November 2023, broadcast on Nine Network and live-streamed via YouTube and Stan from Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Gadigal. It was hosted by Today presenter Brooke Boney and comedian Tommy Little. After a two-year gap in inductees Jet entered the Hall of Fame and performed a medley of their hit songs. Troye Sivan won the most trophies obtaining four from six nominations, while Genesis Owusu received the most nominations with seven and won three. Nominees had been announced on 21 September. Two related, new categories were introduced: Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement and Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement.
