Rina Choudhury is an Indian actress, director and writer associated with Bengali Cinema, best known for her portrayals of a vivacious and forthright girl in the 1990s. Under the mentorship of her father, the esteemed filmmaker Anjan Choudhury, her illustrious career in Bengali Cinema began as a child actor in the 1984 blockbuster Shatru starring Ranjit Mallick [1] . She then played a minor role in the 1992 film Maya Mamata starring veteran actress Sabitri Chatterjee and Rina's elder sister Chumki Chowdhury in the titular roles. However, Rina Choudhury's breakthrough as a leading lady came with the film Geet Sangeet, where she played the character of Rekha, the pampered and obstinate daughter of a rich businessman. In this 1994 film, Rina shared screen with some of the most popular actors of Bengali Cinema, like Ranjit Mallick, Sabitri Chatterjee, Subhendu Chatterjee, Abhishek Chatterjee and her elder sister Chumki Choudhury [2] . The 1996 film Puja also marks a significant milestone in her acting career where she played the titular character of a faithful and devoted maid with a rebellious forthright attitude [3] . Her career is distinguished by a array of memorable performances in films like Mejobou, Sriman Bhootnath, Mukhyamantri and Lofer, most of which were produced by Anjan Choudhury.
Apart from her acting ventures, Rina Choudhury has also evolved herself into a versatile film director and writer, leaving an indelible mark on the Bengali film industry with the 2018 film Kalpataroo [4] .She also appeared in the Bengali serial Erao Sotru in Zee Bangla. [5]
Rina Choudhury was born to director Anjan Choudhury and his wife Jaysree Choudhury in 1974. She is the second of three siblings, born to a family of accomplished artists. Her elder sister, Chumki Choudhury, is a distinguished actress in the Bengali film industry, while her younger brother, the late Sandip Choudhury, followed in their father's footsteps as a director.
Rina married actor Rahul Goswami, who she met while shooting for the folk theatre play Shvadhin Bharote Poradhin Bhalobasha. The couple has a daughter [6] .
Rina has often expressed her love for writing and directing films based on her own stories. Rina is presently working on her directorial venture Sohag Raat [7] [8] .

Ogo Bodhu Shundori English: Hey Beautiful Bride) is a 1981 Bengali comedy film, directed by Salil Dutta. It was one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Kumar for the final sections of the film and for the song O Daddy, O Mummy. The film starred also Moushumi Chatterjee, Sumitra Mukherjee, Ranjit Mallick and Santosh Dutta. The movie is a Bengali reworking of the story of Pygmalion, heavily drawing upon the British musical My Fair Lady.
Ranjit Mallick is an Indian actor who works mainly in Bengali cinema. Though he has starred in parallel films like Interview, Calcutta 71, Shakha Proshakha and romantic comedy like Mouchak; he is particularly known for appearing in action films such as Shatru, Guru Dakshina, Jibon Niye Khela etc. In later years, he has further received praise for playing supporting roles in Sathi, Nater Guru, Gyarakal, Chander Bari and Bajimaat. He was also the Sheriff of Kolkata for the year 2014.

Sathi (transl. Partner) is a 2002 Indian Bengali-language musical romantic drama film co-written and directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. It stars Jeet, making his debut, Priyanka Upendra and Ranjit Mallick in lead roles. The soundtrack and background score was composed by S. P. Venkatesh, while V. Prabhakar handled the cinematography and editing was finished by Swapan Guha. The film follows the tragic journey of Bijoy Ray, a struggling singer, who comes to Kolkata to find his love Sonali, being released from jail after five years due to false accusations of carrying firearms. The film was a remake of the Tamil film Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999).
Bandhan (transl. Bond) is a 2004 Indian Bengali language romantic-drama film co-written and directed by Rabi Kinnagi. Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, it stars Jeet, Koel Mallick and Victor Banerjee in the lead role. The film follows Ronny, an innocent child living with his father and growing up in foreign, often misses his dead mother Meena. After getting invited in India on the occasion of a marriage ceremony of his mother's cousin in India, he meets his maternal aunt Reena, who resembles his mother as they were the twins. Then Ronny thinks Reena to be his mother and wants his father to marry her. The film was a remake of the Telugu film Santosham and the Tamil film Unnai Thedi.
Anjan Choudhury was an Indian film director, writer and screenplay writer who worked in the Bengali cinema of West Bengal. He had two daughters and one son. The daughters Chumki Chowdhury (elder) and Rina Choudhury became actresses. His son Sandip Choudhury was a T.V. serial and film director. He died on 3 January 2023. Jibon Niye Khela(English: Playing with life) is a 1999 Indian Bengali language political action film directed by Anjan Choudhury. The film attained mass attention as it deals with the corruption in Healthcare sector of West Bengal. The film features Ranjit Mallick, Biplab Chatterjee, Manoj Mitra, Debashree Roy, Subhendu Chatterjee, Chumki Choudhury, Haradhan Bandopadhyay, Arjun Chakraborty, Lokesh Ghosh and Rina Choudhury in lead roles, while Supriya Devi did a guest appearance. The music of the film was composed by Tapan Chakraborty, background music was scored and lyrics were penned by Leela Choudhury.
Shotru is a 2011 Indian Bengali-language action thriller film co-written and directed by Raj Chakraborty. The film was produced by Ashok Dhanuka under the banner of Eskay Movies. The movie is a remake of 2010 Tamil movie Singam. Lokesh Ghosh is an Indian Bengali actor who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. Ghosh was born and brought up in Mumbai. He began his acting career doing small roles in Bollywood. Ghosh got his break through in the Bengali film industry with Anjan Choudhury's 1996 political drama Mukhyamantri, where he played the role of Ashok, the momentarily spoilt son of the protagonist Bimal Chowdhury. He was simultaneously cast in Choudhury's other venture of the year Nach Nagini Nach Re where he played the role of Rajat opposite Anjan Choudhury's daughter Chumki Chowdhury. Sangharsha is a 1995 Indian Bengali-language political action film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Produced by Prabir Kumar Rakshit and Gautam Sinha Roy under the banner of Laxmi Chitram, the film was based on a story by Anjan Chowdhury, which itself was inspired from the political violence taken place in West Bengal during the late 1980s. The film stars an ensemble cast consisting of Ranjit Mallick, Tapas Paul, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Abhishek Chatterjee, Chumki Chowdhury, Laboni Sarkar, Manoj Mitra, Dilip Roy in pivotal roles. Plotted in a village near Bolpur, which is ruled by two different gangs, always collide with each other for various social issues including a cold competition during the Durga Puja. During these violent situations, there arrives a doctor named Subhankar, who comes to know that both the leaders of the gangs are educated but are indulged to do anti-social activities forcibly by a local politician and a doctor. Then he takes the situation under control and becomes the inspiration for the gang members to be turned around. It was an all time blockbuster at the box office.

The film stars Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Ranjit Mullick, Mithu Mukherjee, Sulata Choudhury, Ratna Ghoshal, and Nripati Chattopadhyay in lead roles. Nachiketa Ghosh scored the music in the film. The film was released on 10 January 1974.

Sandhyarani Chatterjee was an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali cinema. She was a reigning actress of Bengali cinema during 1940s and 1950s. She appeared in more than 250 Bengali films. She made her silver screen debut in Sarbojanin Bibahotsab. She featured opposite Uttam Kumar in Ajoy Kar's Bardidi (1957). Even after she played supporting characters later, her popularity remained intact.
