Rise and Walk: The Dennis Byrd Story is a 1994 American drama film directed by Michael Dinner and written by Sally Nemeth, John Miglis and Mark Levin. It is based on the 1993 book Rise and Walk: The Trial and Triumph of Dennis Byrd by Dennis Byrd and Mike D'Orso. The film stars Peter Berg, Kathryn Morris, Wolfgang Bodison, Johann Carlo, Steve Fitchpatrick and Patrick Warburton. The film premiered on Fox on February 28, 1994. [1] [2] [3]

Daniel Ricardo Manning is an American college basketball coach and former professional player who is an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Colorado. Manning played high-school basketball at Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, as well as Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas. He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks, and played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 14 years. After retiring from professional basketball Manning became an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Kansas. He won the national championship with the Jayhawks in 1988 as a player, and again as an assistant in 2008. He is the all-time leading scorer in Kansas basketball history with 2,951 points. The next closest player to his point total is Nick Collison, who is 854 points behind Manning.
Dennis DeWayne Byrd was an American professional football player who was a defensive end and defensive tackle for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. He played for the Jets for four seasons beginning in 1989. Over his four seasons, he recorded 28 sacks and 110 tackles. His career ended when he was paralyzed following a collision with a teammate during a game. Through rehabilitation, he later managed to walk again.
Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast was a one-hour, commercial-free benefit concert television special that aired simulcast worldwide on September 9, 2005, at 8 p.m. ET/CT live from New York City and Los Angeles and tape delayed in the Mountain Time Zone and Pacific Time Zones.
