Rising Star is an Indian version of the international franchise series Rising Star , a reality television singing competition.
The program format lets the viewers vote for contestants live via the television channel's mobile app. The show premiered on 4 February 2015 on Colors TV and airs on weekends at 9:00 pm. This is the first reality television show in India which involves Live Audience Voting.
Popular playback singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, playback singer and actor Monali Thakur and actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh are the experts in the show. This show marks as Diljit Dosanjh's television debut. The show is hosted by singer-actor Meiyang Chang and dancer-choreographer Raghav Juyal.
Bannet Dosanjh became India's first Rising Star, won Rs. 20 lakhs and also an opportunity to sing a song in an upcoming Vishesh Films movie. Maithili Thakur was declared as the first runner-up. [1]
The Live auditions began on 4 February 2017 and lasted for 8 episodes.

The second season of Airtel Super Singer Junior - Thamizhagathin Chellakuralukkana Thedal(the search for the sweet voice of Tamil Nadu) premiered on 22 June 2009. The music competition reality TV show was again telecast on Vijay TV, and Bharti Airtel returned to sponsor this show. Episodes were telecast between Monday and Thursday each week at 9:00 pm. Children aged 6 years to 14 showcased their singing talent. The show initially promised that its winner would receive ₹25 lakhs in prize money, which was later changed to a villa in Anugraha Satellite Town valued at ₹25 lakhs by its sponsor, Navashakthi Township and Developers.
Diljit Dosanjh is an Indian singer, songwriter, actor, film producer and television personality. He works in Punjabi Music and subsequently in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. Dosanjh entered Social 50 chart by Billboard in 2020. He is featured in various music charts including Canadian Albums Chart, UK Asian chart by Official Charts Company and New Zealand Hot Singles. His movies, including Jatt & Juliet 2, Punjab 1984, Sajjan Singh Rangroot and Honsla Rakh are among the highest grossing Punjabi films in history.
