Ritah Namayanja Kivumbi (born May 1, 1980), is a Ugandan blind art director, arts administrator, and motivational speaker. She is the founder and art director of Magezi Arts Exhibition Centre currently located at the Namirembe Guest House in Kampala. In 2016, Namayanja was awarded the presidential golden medal by President Museven i recognizing her efforts in empowering youths and women. She is also known as Ritah Wise.

Early life and education

Namayanja attended Uganda Martyrs Senior School Namugongo (O-level) and Uganda Martyrs High School, Rubaga (A-level). [1]

She joined Makerere University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies and later on attained a Master's degree in Ethics and Public Management. [1]

Career

Before Namayanja went blind, she was the administrator of the Makerere University Art Gallery and she organized the Magezi Art Exhibition in September 2008. [2]

In 2008, shortly before Namayinja went blind, she founded the Magezi Arts Gallery. In November 2008, Namayanja developed frequent severe headaches and she became blind a month later, which led to her falling into depression and self-pity for seven years. [2]

In March 2015, she revived the Magezi arts gallery, which deals in various visual artworks and also trains students from various tertiary institutions. [3] In 2016, on International Women's Day, Namayanja was awarded the Presidential Golden Medal by President Museveni recognizing her efforts in empowering youths and women. [4]

Namayanja Rose Nsereko is a Ugandan lawyer, columnist, author, security sector manager and politician. She is the current Deputy Secretary General of Uganda's rulling party.

Florence Namayanja is a female Ugandan politician who was district woman representative of Bukoto County East, Masaka District. She was affiliated to the Democratic Party political party and now affiliated to National Unity Platform. In the 11th Parliament, she stood as the Candidate for LC5 Chairperson for Masaka City under the National Unity Platform although she lost the elections. She was the winner of Masaka city mayoral seat after defeating seven candidates including business tycoon, Emmanuel Lwasa with 28,824 votes.

Sika Foyer is a Togolese American mixed media and conceptual visual artist and curator living and working in New York City. In 2017 she curated the exhibition Affirmative Art at Nagenda International Academy of Art and Design (NIAAD) at Makerere University in Namulanda, Entebbe, Uganda. In 2021 she received her Master of Fine Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Jenifer Bamuturaki is a Ugandan businesswoman and corporate executive, who is the chief executive officer of Uganda Airlines, the national airline of Uganda, since July 2022. Before that she was the acting CEO.

Pamela Elizabeth Acaye Kerunen, is a Ugandan writer, poet, actress, performance artist, installation artist, and art activist. She is the founding director of KEBU forum. She was the first female Ugandan artist to exhibit under the first ever Ugandan pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition of Biennale di Venezia (2022).

Ritah Kivumbi is an Ugandan footballer who plays as a striker for Mallbackens IF.
