Robbie Rouse (born February 5, 1991) is a former American football running back. He played his college football at Fresno State University. Since 2023, he currently serves as the running backs coach for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits football team. [1]
Rouse grew up in San Diego, California, and played high school football at James Madison High School. [2]
Rouse played college football as a running back for the Fresno State Bulldogs football team from 2009 to 2012. [3] [4] [5] He totaled 479 rushing yards as a freshman in 2009 and 1,129 as a sophomore in 2010. [6]
As a junior, Rouse rushed for 1,549 yards and 13 touchdowns during the 2011 season. He ranked fifth among NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision players in rushing yards during the 2011 regular season. [7] He rushed for over 100 yards in eight of 12 games in 2011, including a season-high 176 yards against Hawaii on November 19, 2011, 172 yards against Nevada on October 22, 2011, and 169 yards against Nebraska on September 10, 2011. As a senior in 2012, Rouse rushed for 1,490 yards and 12 touchdowns on 282 carries for an average of 5.3 yards per carry. He also caught 63 passes for 435 yards during the 2012 season, bringing his combined rushing/receiving total to 2,125 yards. [6] He became the first Fresno State player to have three 1,000-yard seasons. [9]
In four years at Fresno State, Rouse rushed for a total of 4,647 yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. He also had 794 receiving yards, five receiving touchdowns, and one passing touchdown. [6] He is Fresno State's all-time career rushing leader. [10]
Rouse was not drafted in the 2013 NFL draft but signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns. He was released on May 21, 2013. Rouse signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on October 2, 2013. In 2015, Rouse signed with the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League. [11] On April 6, 2015, Rouse was released by the Danger. On April 8, 2015, Rouse signed with the Iowa Barnstormers. On September 11, 2015, Rouse re-signed with the Barnstormers for the 2015 season. [12]
David Duke Carr is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Fresno State Bulldogs and was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2002 NFL draft. Carr also played for the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. With the Giants, Carr was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XLVI over the New England Patriots. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator at Bakersfield Christian High School.
Peyton Derek Hillis is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL). Hillis attended Conway High School in Conway, Arkansas, and was a highly touted recruit. Hillis attended the University of Arkansas where he was primarily used as a fullback. After being drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL draft, Hillis rose to the top of the depth chart as the starting fullback for the Denver Broncos. Due to injuries to the running back corps, he became the starting running back. After spending two years in Denver, Hillis was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2010. In 2011, Hillis won a nationwide vote which put him on the cover of EA Sports' Madden NFL 12 video game.
Jacquizz "Quizz" Rodgers is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Oregon State Beavers, and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft.
Ryan Jefforey Mathews is an American former professional football running back. He played college football for the Fresno State Bulldogs, earning second-team All-American honors in 2009. Mathews was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the first round, 12th overall, in the 2010 NFL draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Lonyae Durell Miller Jr. is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at Fresno State University.
Malcolm Brown is an American professional football running back who is a free agent. He played college football for the Texas Longhorns where he twice a second-team all-Big 12 selection and was the 2011 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. He was signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2015, and has also played for Miami Dolphins.
