Robert Phillip Chin (born 20 December 1971) is a Jamaican politician. He has been a member of the Jamaica Labour Party since 2006 and is currently the Member of Parliament for the Manchester Southern constituency defeating incumbent Michael Stewart in the General Election on 3rd September 2020. Early in his political career he served on Management Teams in the Saint Andrew North Western, Portland Eastern and Kingston Eastern Constituencies.
He also served as a Vice President and Deputy General Secretary for Generation 2000 (G2K) where he has been intimately involved in various political activities for the Party, which include but limited to, campaigning, polling, recruiting, public relations, workers training, research, fund raising, welfare and social activities.[ citation needed ]
He contested the 2016 General Election on the 25th February 2016 representing the Jamaica Labour Party in the Kingston Central Constituency, going up against the incumbent Ronald Thwaites. Thwaites tallied 5,190 votes to defeat Chin by 1,229 who tallied 3,961 votes.[ citation needed ]
In the 2020 Jamaican general election, he defeated the incumbent Michael Stewart to become Member of Parliament of Manchester Southern in what was considered to be a stronghold for the People's National Party. [5] Chin tallied 6,826 (53.05%) votes to defeat Stewart by 890 votes or 6.91% who tallied 5,936 (46.14%) votes. [6]

He was the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica from 2012 to 2016. He was elected the first vice chair of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization representing Jamaica in 2012 and elected chairman of the Executive council for the 2014-2015 period. McNeill was elected a Vice President of The People's National Party at the Party's annual conference in September 2016.

Ferguson was moved to labor and social security after he remarked that babies who died as a result of the Klebsiella outbreak in 2015 at Victoria Jubilee Hospital are “not babies in the real sense” during his tenure as Minister of Health when many premature babies died from that bacteria.

The 2020 People's National Party (PNP) leadership election was triggered after Peter Phillips announced his intention to resign as Leader of the People's National Party following the party's defeat at the 2020 general election. It was held on November 7, 2020. If Hanna was elected, she would have served as the second female President of a Jamaican political party and the second female Leader of the Opposition in Jamaican history. The election was won by Former Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for St Andrew Southern and Attorney Mark Golding who secured 1,740 or 54.6% of the vote.
