Robert Jones (born 11 March 1945) is a Welsh composer, organist and choirmaster.

Biography

Jones studied music at the University of Wales and has a Fellowship Diploma from the Royal College of Organists. After 30 years as a high-school teacher, he is now retired, but still active as a composer and organist. He now lives in Monmouth, South Wales.

In German-speaking countries the main publisher of Jones' works is Dr. J. Butz from Bonn. In England his main publisher is Kevin Mayhew.

<i>Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo</i>

The Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, Hob. XXII:7, Novello 8, is a mass in B-flat major by Joseph Haydn. The missa brevis was written around 1774 for the order of the Barmherzige Brüder in Eisenstadt, whose patron saint was John of God. Scored modestly for soprano, four-part mixed choir, two violins, organ and bass, it is known as the Kleine Orgelmesse due to an extended organ solo in the Benedictus movement.

Chor von St. Bonifatius

The Chor von St. Bonifatius is a German mixed choir, the church choir of the parish St. Bonifatius, Wiesbaden. It was founded in 1862 as a male choir and was a mixed choir from 1887. From 1981 to 2018, it was conducted by Gabriel Dessauer, who founded two children's choirs. The group sang the first performance in Germany of John Rutter's Mass of the Children and performed in Azkoitia, San Sebastián, Görlitz, Bruges, Macon and Rome. Colin Mawby composed for the choir the Missa solemnis Bonifatius-Messe for the 150th anniversary, celebrated on 3 October 2012. From 2019, the choir has been conducted by Roman Twardy who conducted in his first concert Dvořák's Stabat Mater.

Peter Planyavsky Austrian organist and composer (born 1947)

Peter Planyavsky is an Austrian organist and composer. He attended the Schottengymnasium. After graduating from the Vienna Academy of Music in 1966 he spent a year in an organ workshop, and has been instrumental in organ-building projects, notably the construction of the Rieger organ in the Great Hall of the Wiener Musikverein. In 1968 he was appointed organist in the Upper Austrian Stift Schlägl, and the following year organist at Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral. From 1983 until 1990 Planyavsky was their director of music, with overall responsibility for church music at the cathedral.

<i>Messe solennelle</i> (Vierne)

The Messe solennelle in C-sharp minor, Op. 16, is a mass by the French composer Louis Vierne. He composed it in 1899, scored for choir and two organs. It was published in 1900, before it was first performed at Saint-Sulpice in Paris in December 1901. Although scored for two pipe organs, it was later adapted for a single organ, as most churches could not provide two such instruments.

Messe in G is a mass in G major by the English composer Christopher Tambling. He composed it in 2013, scored for mixed choir, orchestra and organ. It was first published in 2014.

Compositions have been commissioned for Cologne Cathedral and the Katholikentag.
