Robert Sherman (born April 23, 1996) is an American journalist who is the is the Foreign and White House correspondent for NewsNation. He worked for Fox News from 2019 to 2021. His most prominent assignments have been the Russo-Ukrainian War and the Israel-Hamas War.
Sherman began his broadcasting career at CBS 42 (WIAT) in Birmingham, Alabama [1] . In 2019, he joined Fox News as a reporter based in Florida [2] . In 2022, Sherman was named a correspondent for NewsNation [3] . He "raised his hand immediately" to cover the 2022 outbreak of war in Ukraine, according to Nexstar President of Networks Sean Compton [4] .
In the aftermath of the October 7 attacks by Hamas, Sherman was scrambled to Israel and spent most of the next year reporting from the Middle East [5] . Sherman described it as "a highly tense environment where the ante seems to get raised every few hours." [6] In January of 2024, he went inside of Hamas’ tunnels in Gaza showing the intricacies of their underground network [7] . In June of 2024, he reported from aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier during their active operations against the Houthis in Yemen [8] .
In March of 2025, he flew aboard Air Force One with President Trump and asked the President about his tariff policy [9] . Sherman made international headlines after getting a question in to the newly elected Pope Leo XIV [10] . The exchange went viral after Sherman asked the Pontiff if he had a message for the United States, to which Pope Leo XIV responded “many” prompting speculation the response was a loaded dig at the current Trump administration [11] .
In August of 2025, he hosted a one hour special on Ukraine entitled Ukraine: On the Frontlines featuring exclusive reporting from the Donbas region on the Ukrainians’ emerging drone technology [12] . His meeting with President Zelenskyy was profiled by Forbes as he was the only American network correspondent to speak with the Ukrainian leader ahead of President Trump and President Putin’s summit in Alaska [13] .
