In the United States,a state supreme court is the highest court in the state judiciary of a U.S. state. On matters of state law,the judgment of a state supreme court is considered final and binding in both state and federal courts.
William Cushing was one of the original five associate justices of the United States Supreme Court;confirmed by the United States Senate on September 26,1789,he served until his death.
