Rock the Foe Hammer is the debut and only album by American sludge metal band Warlord. The album was released on July 13, 1999 on Solid State Records. [1] It was the first release to feature Bassist Phil Smith.
AllMusic critic Steve Huey writes "Heaven's Metal group Warlord (not to be confused with a previous hard rock outfit of the same name) offers their first full-length album for Solid State Records with Rock the Foe Hammer. Their spiritual message comes across loud and clear, but they may have concentrated on it at the expense of the music: too many songs meander from riff to riff without building to climaxes or touching on memorable musical themes. It isn't that the music isn't headbang-worthy; it's just that the compositions need a clearer, tighter focus to be really effective." [1]
Joe Rockstroh of The Phantom Tollbooth wrote "Why the band opted not to continue to develop their "doomcore" sound will probably become one of those never-ending debates. While this album is decent in areas such as production and lyrics, it falls short with boring riffs and grooves, endless songs, and those wretched vocals. I've come to expect a certain level of quality from Solid State, and this does nothing to further that trust. Meanwhile, I'll continue to hope that some band ,somewhere will pick up where the Warlord EP left off." [2]
Chris Gramlich of Exclaim! said "With a name and title that either implies some sort of Manowar worship or black metal leanings, Warlord prove that old book and cover theory by not only being good, but by being something totally unexpected. Noise rock, metal, stomp rock? Warlord is nothing if not abrasive, tipping their axes to the likes of Unsane, Willpower -era Today is the Day and the defunct Cable. Warlord’s chosen path of righteous musically destruction was overseen by the Reverend Steve Austin (T.I.T.D.), and while Rock the Foe Hammer strays a bit to close to its influences, the non-stop noise assault is still damaging nevertheless. Melodic death metal is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal. The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Pioneered by the English heavy metal band Carcass with their 1993 album Heartwork, melodic death metal developed further in Sweden in the mid-1990s. The Swedish death metal scene did much to popularise the style, soon centering in the "Gothenburg metal" scene. At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul, Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery, and In Flames' The Jester Race, all released in the mid-1990s, were highly influential albums in melodic death metal, with At the Gates and In Flames being the two most common influences on North American 2000s heavy metal bands. Many American heavy metal bands emulated At the Gates' sound, resulting in the usage of the phrase "At the Gates worship".

Travail was an American, Christian nu metal/metalcore band based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. Fronted by Matt Leslie, it had an intense following at Club 412, a local church-sponsored lounge and music venue located in southwest Fort Worth.
Embodyment was a Christian rock band from Arlington, Texas. The group formed in 1992 and were first known by the name Supplication where they originally played death metal, later turning to deathcore with the release of their debut album Embrace the Eternal, which in turn is credited as one of the earliest deathcore releases of all time. Following their debut full-length the band would completely abandon all their extreme metal elements thereafter, pursuing instead an alternative rock/nu metal style with their album The Narrow Scope of Things and subsequently became lighter with each proceeding album.

Phantom Tollbooth was a post-punk/noise rock band from New York City. They played a style of post punk that included elements from jazz, noise rock, and art rock. This allowed Phantom Tollbooth to make sudden starts, stops, and tempo changes in their music. All of their albums were released in a four-year window between 1984 and 1988 on Homestead Records. In 2003, Guided by Voices frontman Robert Pollard created new lyrics and melodies for Phantom Tollbooth's 1988 album Power Toy. The resulting work was released as Beard of Lightning.

The Blamed is an American Christian hardcore punk band currently based out of Chicago. During their tenure they have played primarily hardcore punk, pop punk, punk rock, and emo music with some influences from metal as well. They originally are from California having relocated to Illinois after guitarist Bryan Gray moved to Chicago. The band originally formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2003. Members during this era of the band included Bryan Gray, Christopher Wiitala, Trevor Wiitala, Jeff Locke, Jim Chaffin, John Hansen, and Matt Switaj. They have released three albums, with Tooth & Nail Records, 21 in 1994, Frail in 1996, and Give Us Barabbas in 2002. The band released four albums, with Grrr Records, ...Again in 1998, Forever in 1999, Germany in 2000, and Isolated Incident in 2001. The band reformed in the summer of 2016 to play a one-off set at Audio Feed music festival. This has since lead to the band reforming and recording a split EP with the Chicago hardcore band The Satire, a band sharing multiple members with the Blamed. The split EP was released in November 2018 through Indivision Music.
Warlord was an American Christian metal band that formed in 1997. The band's sound was described as "doom hardcore", a mix between doom metal and hardcore punk. The band was signed to Solid State Records during their brief existence. Before disbanding, the band did a tour with fellow Solid State band, Training for Utopia. The band has a compilation coming out, to help drummer Timothy Henderson with his health problems. The compilation has a new song and an unreleased track from Rock the Foe Hammer.
Nailed Promise is a Christian metal band from Fort Worth, Texas. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Nathan Garcia, drummer Matthew Miller, and brothers, guitarist Travis Brown and bassist Ryan Brown. The band signed to Rescue Records, a record label owned by Noah Bernardo Sr. with bands including Point of Recognition, Dogwood, and P.O.D. The band was active from 1994/1995 until 2001-2002.
Living Sacrifice is the debut studio album by the Christian metal band of the same name, released through R.E.X. Records in 1991. The album exhibited a more thrash metal feel, which was the band's original style. They became more progressive every album, however, eventually sticking with more of a groove metalcore style.
