Basketball
The Spartan boys basketball team has made it to the state tournament 13 times in the school's existence, winning a state championship in 1988, placing second in 1999, and placing third in 1979, 1992 & 2007. Former head coach Bob Brink is the second coach in Minnesota State High School League history to win 900 games in any sport, second only to Bob McDonald of Chisholm. A notable player for the Spartans was Justin Stommes (Eastern Kentucky).
Baseball
The Spartans baseball team has also made the state tournament 9 times, winning state championships in 1992 and 2010, finishing as runner-ups in 1991, 2013 and 2017, and taking the consolation championship in 2007. A notable baseball player, Eric Decker, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008 and the Minnesota Twins in 2009.
The Spartan football team won their first state championship in 2011, beating Bemidji 17-10 to take Class AAAA. They won their second championship in 2019 beating SMB 22-21 in overtime. Notable football players for the Spartans include NFL players Rick Bell '79 - MN Vikings (St.Johns) and Eric Decker '05 - Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and New England Patriots (MN Gophers) [3]
Dance
The ROCORI dance team has also made it to state in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 after being created in 2008 with their top performances being fourth place in both High Kick and Jazz in 2017.
Randy Gene Moss is an American former professional football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and the San Francisco 49ers. Widely regarded as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, he holds the NFL single-season touchdown reception record, as well as the NFL single-season touchdown reception record for a rookie. All-time, Moss ranks second in career touchdown receptions as well as fourth in career receiving yards. In addition to possessing extraordinary speed at his size and superior leaping ability, he was famously known for often securing spectacular contested catches in tight coverage by physically overpowering defenders. The term "mossed", referring to this ability, has since become a common term in the football lexicon.
De La Salle High School is a private Catholic school for boys run by the De La Salle Brothers in Concord, California. It is located in the Diocese of Oakland. The school was founded in 1965.
The Rocori High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred at Rocori High School on September 24, 2003 in Cold Spring, Minnesota, United States. The shooter was identified as 15 year-old freshman John Jason McLaughlin, who murdered 14-year-old freshman Seth Bartell and 17-year-old senior Aaron Rollins. Prior to the shooting, McLaughlin was described as "quiet and withdrawn".
Matthew Brennan Cassel is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. A member of seven NFL teams, Cassel's most notable stints were with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football at USC and was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Since retiring, Cassel has served as a television football analyst on NBC Sports Boston.
Laurence Maroney is an American former professional football player who was a running back for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and was selected by the New England Patriots with the 21st overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He also played a season for the Denver Broncos.
Kevin Joseph Kasper is a former American football wide receiver of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played college football at Iowa.
Mayo High School (Mayo) is a public high school in Rochester, Minnesota, United States. It is named after the brothers William James Mayo and Charles Horace Mayo, physicians and founders of the Mayo Clinic. It is a public school and part of the Rochester Independent School District #535. It is notable for being constructed in an almost perfect circle aside from a few appendages, and for housing the Rochester Planetarium. The current principal of Mayo High School is Troy Prigge.
Byron Daniel Chamberlain is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Wayne State Wildcats. He was selected in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL Draft and played professionally for the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and the Washington Redskins. Chamberlain won back-to-back Super Bowl championships as a member of the Broncos. He was voted to the 2002 Pro Bowl while with the Vikings.
Thomas J. Yewcic was an American football quarterback and punter and Major League Baseball player. He attended Michigan State University. In football, he played from 1961 to 1966 with the Boston Patriots of the American Football League (AFL), and is a member of the Patriots All-1960s (AFL) Team. In baseball, he played one game for the Detroit Tigers in 1957.
Eugene Washington is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Minnesota Vikings (1967–1972) and the Denver Broncos (1973). He was one of two wide receivers in the NFL with the same name during the last five year of his career as an active player, but neither were ever teammates.
Adam Weber is a former American football quarterback. He was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football at Minnesota, where he finished his career as the Gophers' all-time leader in career passing yards and career touchdown passes.
Eric Thomas Decker is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football and college baseball for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Broncos, Decker played for the New York Jets for three years, then the Tennessee Titans for one season.
Seth Olsen is a former American football guard who played in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Iowa. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Demaryius Antwon Thomas was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Denver Broncos. He played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, earning third-team All-American honors in 2009. He was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. With Denver, Thomas made four Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. He also played for the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and New York Jets.

He played college football for the LSU Tigers and was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft. Ridley has also played for the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers. With the Patriots, he won Super Bowl XLIX over the Seattle Seahawks.

Justin Stommes is an American professional basketball player from Cold Spring, Minnesota. He played college basketball for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels from 2007 until 2011. He has played for 5 professional teams from 2011 to 2016. He returned to the court for the 2019 Drew League season and won Rookie Of The Year honors. He runs his company, Justin Stommes Basketball, throughout the nation and trains aspiring athletes and NBA players.

Dillon Mitchell is an American professional football wide receiver for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Oregon and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round, 239th overall of the 2019 NFL Draft.
