Thomas Clement Douglas was a Canadian politician who served as seventh premier of Saskatchewan from 1944 to 1961 and Leader of the New Democratic Party from 1961 to 1971. Wall's Saskatchewan Party government was re-elected with an increased majority of 49 seats,the third-largest majority government in the province's history. The opposition New Democratic Party was cut down to only nine ridings,its worst showing in almost 30 years.
Scott Moe is a Canadian politician serving as the 15th and current premier of Saskatchewan since February 2,2018. He is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the riding of Rosthern-Shellbrook,first elected in 2011. He served in the Saskatchewan Party cabinet from 2014–2017 under the premiership of Brad Wall,twice as Minister of Environment and also as Minister of Advanced Education. In January 2018 he was chosen to succeed Wall as leader of the Saskatchewan Party. He led the Saskatchewan Party to a fourth-consecutive majority mandate in the 2020 provincial election.
An election for the leadership of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party was triggered on November 7,2011 following Dwain Lingenfelter's resignation after losing his seat in the 2011 election. The party selected its new leader on March 9,2013,by a one-member one vote system held during a convention at TCU Place in Saskatoon.
An election for the leadership of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party was held on March 3,2018,as a result of the resignation of Cam Broten after losing the seat he contested in the 2016 election. Ryan Meili was chosen leader.
The 2018 Saskatchewan Party leadership election was held on January 27,2018,due to the announcement on August 10,2017,by Premier Brad Wall that he would be retiring from politics once his successor was chosen. The winner,Scott Moe,succeeded Wall as Premier of Saskatchewan on February 2,2018.
