Rodolfo Elizondo Torres (born July 18, 1946) is a Mexican politician affiliated with the PAN. [1]
Elizondo Torres was born in Durango, and holds a bachelor's degree in administration from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM).
Elizondo has been a member of the PAN since the early 1980s. In 1983 he was elected municipal president (mayor) of Victoria de Durango. In 1986 and again in 1992 he unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Durango.
Elizondo has served in both houses of the Mexican Congress; from 1988 to 1991 and from 1994 to 1997 he served in the lower house, then from 1997 to 2000 he served in the Senate of Mexico during the LVII Legislature.
President Vicente Fox designated Elizondo first as presidential spokesperson and then, on July 29, 2003 as Secretary of Tourism. [2]
Mexican President elect Felipe Calderón re-designated Elizondo as Secretary of Tourism for his Administration. He left this position in 2010. [2]
In 2009 he was responsible for launching the "Welcome Back" campaign to regain the trust of travelers affected by the Swine Flu scare. He re-activated cruise ship arrivals to Mexican ports only one month after the swine flu threat became public. [3]
Felipe de Jesús Calderón Hinojosa is a Mexican politician who served as the 63rd president of Mexico from 2006 to 2012 and Secretary of Energy during the presidency of Vicente Fox between 2003 and 2004. He was a member of the National Action Party for 30 years before quitting the party in November 2018.

Rodolfo Torre Cantú was a Mexican physician and politician. He held a number of public offices, such as Federal deputy, Secretary of Health of Tamaulipas and Director-general of the DIF in Ciudad Victoria. While running for governor of Tamaulipas as the candidate of the PRI, he was assassinated, apparently by agents of a drug cartel. Torre was murdered alongside a Tamaulipas lawmaker, Enrique Blackmore, on 28 June 2010 near Ciudad Victoria, which is approximately three hours south of Brownsville, Texas. Felipe Calderón promised a full investigation, saying, "the fight against drug cartels must continue". He further stated, "This was an act not only against a candidate of a political party but against democratic institutions, and it requires a united and firm response from all those who work for democracy." Torre's assassination is the "highest-profile case of political violence" in Mexico since the murder of Luis Donaldo Colosio.
