Roman Spitko (born 18 November 1978) is a German badminton player.

Career

Spitko played the 2006 IBF World Championships in men's singles, defeating Carlos Longo of Spain in the first round. In the round of 32, he was defeated by Dicky Palyama of the Netherlands. He also played in men's doubles with Michael Fuchs, and they were defeated in the round of 16 by Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto of Indonesia.

Martin Lundgaard Hansen is a badminton player from Denmark. He started his career in badminton as a singles player, and competed in the 1993 IBF World Championships. Carlos Longo Esteban is a badminton player from Spain. He won his first senior title at the National Championships in 2004 partnered with Rafael Fernández. A year later, he played at the 2005 World Badminton Championships in Anaheim, United States. In the men's singles event he lost in the first round 15–8, 15–5, against Hugi Heimersson of Sweden. In the mixed doubles event, partnering Laura Molina, they lost in the first round due to a Laura Molina's injury. He also played the 2006 World Championships in men's singles, and he was defeated in first round by Roman Spitko of Germany. Longo also won the mixed doubles title at the National Championships in 2009 and 2010 with Haideé Ojeda.

He is known for his quick and explosive movements with his signature drop shots on court. Watanabe has collected three bronze medals at the World Junior Championships, and also four bronze at the Asian Junior Championships. Watanabe was selected to join the Japanese mixed team compete at the 2017 Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia, winning a gold medal in the qualification to Gold Coast at the 2017 Asia Mixed Team Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the team finished in the semi-final round, took the bronze medal. The left-handed Watanabe has won Super 1000 tournaments a total of five times, and was the first ever male player from Japan to win an All England Open title, first at the 2018 All England Open in the mixed doubles event partnered with Arisa Higashino, then in the 2020 All England Open in the men's doubles event with Hiroyuki Endo, and in both men's and mixed doubles in the 2021 All England Open, defending his men's doubles title with Hiroyuki Endo and winning the mixed doubles category with once again, Arisa Higashino.
